The rain filled skies held out for most ot the day letting diners enjoy eating in the park. ST. MARY'S ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION St. Mary's Catholic Church celebrated the SOth Anniversary of) the construction of the present church on Woodstock St. last Sunday. A Mass was said at 5 p.m. *^v the Most Reverend Bishop Continued on Page 7 CLEAN UP DAYS JUNE 27-30 Clean Up Days for Huniley this year will be June 27th to June JOth. Bins will be located behind the American Legion. 4thofJULYCX>NCERT The Huntley Park District is sponsoring a community choir which will be performing a selection of patriotic numbers on the 4th of July. Everyone who loves to sing is urged to attendl The practices are being held at the 1st Congregational Church on Monday & Wednes¬ day evenings at 7:00 p.m^ nease come, if you can, audi bring a friend (or several friendsl). The performance will be held in the evening so that everyone will have the day to spend with their family ^d friends. For more information, call Betsey Warrington either at the park ofRce at 669-3180 or at homeat669-SS73. The Miss Huntley Contest was held at the lovely decorated American Legion Hall at 8 p.m. Linda Borhart was the MC and May Chesak the accompanist. I'he candidates, Sandra Rowe, April Fischer, Sue Schaller and Chris Forester, appeared in evening gowns. Each of the girls was asked the question, "In growing with Huntley is there anything that you would like to see changed and if so what? Sandy Rowe answered that she has lived in Huntley for 11 years and already seen some changes. She would, however, like to see two things changed. The water which is discolored and smells awful and more activities for the younger generation. She said that she wouldn't like to see Huntley grow larger. April Fischer said that she would like to see two things changed. First that the older homes in Huntley be repaired or rejuvenated. Secondly that there be more sports programs in the Huntley schools. She hoped thft Huntley would never change as far as the kindness and warmth of the people of the community. Sue Schaller said that organizations were needed for young Continued on Page S
