KEARNS NAMED GREAT AMERICAN FAMILY
BENEFIT FOR STEVE
The William Keams family was honored locally as a GREAT AMERICAN FAMILY by the Dlteois Homemakers Extension Federation. Representteg the I.H.E.F. was Louise Dom, secretary ofthe McHenry County Homemakers Association.
The William Keams family were given a special certificate signed by First Lady Nancy Reagan te "Stecere appreciation for their outstandteg contributions as a famUy to improve their community and to strengthen America." Similar ceremonies were held in other communities across the country te conjunction with National Family Week, launching nationwide the First Annual GREAT AMERICAN FAMILY awards program. Directed by the American Family Society under the honorary chairmanship of the First Lady, the program seeks to recognize those families that have served and sacrificed for their communities m remarkable ways.
Various national organizations mciuding the Illinois Homemakers Extension Federation, are oooperatteg in the selection procedure, which will eventually narrow the field down to nme outstanding American families. Conceivably, the William Keams family could be one of those ultimately chosen to meet with Mrs. Reagan in Spring in a special White House Ceremony, as well as receive media attention.
