The basketball teams have been practicing in it since Christmas time. The gym was opened just about one week short ofa year. The lobby roof collapsed last January 13. 1979 at approximately 6 p.m. The cave in was not discovered until 9 p.m. Damage was not held to the lobby as a water pipe broke spreading water all over the gym floor. Luckily no one was hurt. A basketball game was scheduled but was cancelled at 11 am that day. Experts cited reasons for the collapse as no cross beams on the roof structure and poor architectual design. The court case against VARSITY BEATS ROYALS IN OVERTIME 59-54 SfttracfoFandTrchitect is stiir pending^. LuckilyTlJr. Bunt anfl the School Board had upgraded the school insurance before the collapse so all repairs were covered. In a newsletter from Dr. Bunt, he stated that the gym floor does not look as nice as before. Thus, we will not accept it in its present condition, which means resanding, striping, and finishing. We are not sure who is to blame for the shoddy finishing job, but have been assured that the floor will be totally finished as no cost to District 158 during the next two weeks. The corrections will take two weeks. A Board of Education notice read. "As you will notice, problems have developed with the refmishing of the gym floor. Plans are underway to completely refmish the floor (at no cost to the district) F-S REDSKINS BEAT WHEATON-CHRISTLyy ^.ununucu va r>KC •* last Saturday, the Redskin Varisty Team played Hinckley-Big Rock at the Delaney Gym in one of the most exciting games the Skins have played all season. They won in overtime by 5 pts. Continues onBack ATHLEfiCl VALENTINE DANCE Fp.15 Huntley Athletic Boosters will hold their annual Dinner & Dance on Saturday. February 16th at the American Legion Home. The dinner will be at 7:00 p.m. and the dance starts at 9.00 p.m. with Gene Dyer and the Country Gents playing. Tickets may be purchased for both the dinner & dance or for the dinner only or the dance only. Tickets may be purchased from the Boosters or Carolyn Schachtner at 669-3177. The Boosters will be holding a money give away in conjunction with the dinner-dance. Tickets are available from the Boosters or Lorraine Dobrolinsky at 669-5866. More details will follow. BLOOD BANK JANUARY 15 The Huntley Area Blood Bank is conducting a Community Blood Drive. The hours of the blood drive are 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the American Legion Home in Huntley on Tuesday, January 15. The Aurora Area Blood Baak services 18 hospitals in an eight county area, and provides blood for approximately 2,500,000 residents. Because of blood drives like this htiag held in the Huntley Commuaity, all the people of the Huntley Area will have our blood needs met. The basic qualifications for l>eing a blood donor are: 1. General good health 2.110 Lbs. or more in weight 3.17 thru 6S years of age. : Friday night tbe F-S Redskin Team played their first game since before Christmas. The Skins played Wheaton-Christian in the Delaney gym beating them 50-36. The Huntley team kept the lead througfa the entire game.
