Pictured above is the Huntley Jaycee Pee Wee Football Team. The team started the season with a tie game playing against Hampshire. I Their second game last week ended in defeat with Dundee winning 19-6.

OLD TRAIN STATION CITED FOR DESTRUCTION
Pictured above is the Elgin i: Belvedere Inter Urban St".:ion as it looked in 1910. One ofthe commuter ears can be seen pulling into the .station to pick up passengers for Elgin or possibly to make connections with the Chicago. Aurora & Elgin. The Elgin & Belvedere served Huntley's public transportation needs from 1906 until the early 1930's when the popularity ofthe automobile forced it into financial difficulties causing to i-ease operation. The line was known as the diary route because 't was used by farmers to transport milk cans to the dairies, .n 1908, it is reported that a motorman earned 21c an hour whereas a conductor got 18c an hour. The line made connections with the Rockford inter urban and at one time a resident could actually get on a trolley in Huntley and go all the way to Milwaukee by making transfers in Elgin and Chicago.
Today a portion of the road bed ¦ t E & B is used by the Illinois Railroad Museum in Union. Other portions are used by the Penguin Snowmobile Club of Huntley and oiher clubs for their trails. All of the rolling stock of the line has been scraped many years ago. Possibly the only remaining physical structure of the bygone era of transportation is the Huntley station. This structure was moved after the line cease operations to the Drafall farm just east of Huntley where it is used as a pig pen. It also is pictured here as it stands today. This structure is in danger of destruction as the farm is sited for developments.

Open House will be held on October 4, from 7:00-9:00 P.M.. for parents of students in grades one through twelve. Opportuni¬ ties will be provided for parents to meet the teachers and administrators and find out about the activities that make up the school program.
