LIONESS HOLD PLAYDAY FOR YOUNGSTERS STEVE DRENDEL MICEIVES

The Huntley Lioness Club held their first Playday for youngsters of Huntley on Friday, November 26 at 1 pm. Children got to play games usually scheduled fbr adults every Monday. There were all ages in attendance. Many Lionesses helped the younger children to play. Prizes were awarded to each child who won a game.
Following the games, popcom and cool aid was served to the large crowd.

Steve Drendel of Huntley has been awarded the national "I PARE YOU" Award by the McHenry County 4-H orgfuiizatioii. The honor was presented during the 4-H Members and Leiden Recognition Banquet on Nevember 12, 1962. Dreadel waa selected for the Award in recognition of excellence in character a&d well balanced personal development as well as leadership potential.
In addition to the national recognition received, the Award provides the recipients with a copy of William H. Danforth's book I DARE YOU and a personalized certificate. Mr. Danfoith wrote the book out of his own experience. He dedicated much of his time and philanthropy to youth work. In the book, he challenges the readers to aspire to their highest potential, to attain constructive lives of service and citizenship and to be committed to excellence.
The "I DARE YOU" Award is made available by the "I DARE YOU" Committee ofthe American Youth Foundation in cooperation with the County 4-H office. This is the 42nd consecutive year of the Award program. The American Youth Foundation, founded in 1924, is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing programs for youth. The aim ofthe Foundation is the discovery and enhancement of leadership skills and the promotion of balanced growth and development.
