The Huntley Area Jaycees will be hosting this speaker at their meeting and encourage anyone who is interested to attend. The meeting will be held at 8 p.m. at the Huntley American Legion. Mr. Moore will be available to answer any questions related to aviation. Rules Of The Road Review Course The Rules of the Road Review Course is designed to give drivers, particularly senior and disabled citizens, the knowledge and confidence needed to successfully pass the drivers license renewal examinations. The Review Course assists drivers in overcoming the fear and apprehension of taking the vision, written and driving ability examina¬ tions. Also, the Review course serves as an infor¬ mative reminder for persons whose drivers licenses are not expiring in the near future. Drivers are provided with a continuing update on new laws and signs. The Review Course is taught by employees of the Secretary of State's office, and by local volunteer instructors trained and certified by the Secretary of State. The Review Course is offered free more than 2,500 times a year at approximately 450 locations throughout the state. ' -^-l:^-^ .'¦ Yes, the Huritley area was able to keep the wreath red again this year! "This is in spite of a substantial increase in calls in 1987", says Dave Veath Huntley Fire Cheif. He goes on to say this increase is mainly due to the increase in the size of the Huntley area. He also gives recomenda- tions on the use of space heaters and kerosene heaters in an article to be released in the January 14th issue of The Huntley Farmside. Earned Income Credit Increased For 1987 The new tax law has in¬ creased the Earned Income Credit (EIC) for low income taxpayers stated R.S. Wintrode, Jr., District Director of the Internal Revenue Service for northern lUinois. To be eligible for the EIC, taxpayers must have earned income (and adjusted gross income) of less that $15,432 and must have one or more- children living with them for more than half the year. Wintrode noted that the credit can be as much as $851 annually and is based on a percentage of the taxpayers earned income or adjusted gross income. The EIC starts phasing out when earned income is $6,925 and is completely phased out at $15,432. Taxpayers who qualify for Continued on page 8 Second Annual Bridal Fair Coming to Elgin this January is the second annual "Spinning Dreams...the Ultimate in Bridal Fairs." Sponsored by the Elgin Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, the bridal fair will be held in the Hemmens Build¬ ing at the Civic Center on Sat., Jan. 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last year's fair drew over 1,100 brides and grooms, families and friends from throughout the north, northwest and west suburbs and from the Fox Valley. The fair will showcase 60 exhibitors from a wide area representing the bridal market. These include restaurants and caterers, travel agents, bridal shops, florists, music, formal wear, photographers, cosmetics, housewares, printers, hotels and resorts. "The bridal fair this year promises to be better than ever," said Diane Ramsay, director of the Elgin Area Convention and Visitors -Bureau. "It's a one-stop shopping must for the bride where she can find just about everything she needs to help her plan her special day." Two fashion shows featuring spring and summer fashions will be held during the fair. Produced by Kenney DeCamp of KDC Shows in Dundee, the 30 minute fashion shows will be held at 11:30 a.m. and repeated at 2 p.m. in the auditorium. DeCamp, owner of The Loft, a dance studio, produces fashion shows for Spring Hill Mall. He has produced over a dozen shows for Walter Payton's restaurant and he also entertains as a mime. A grand prize honeymoon trip will be awarded to an Continued on page 9 Lioness Re-Schedule Kids Bingo The Kids Bingo, sponsored by the Huntley Lioness had to be cancelled on December 28th, because of the weather. The new date for Kids Bingo will be Saturday, January 16th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the American Legion. The Lioness went all out to make sure that we had great prizes so please mark your calendar and plan to attend. We hope to have a big crowd. Parents welcome! Refreshments served! $1.00 donation per child! Huntley Park District Regular Meeting The regular meeting of the Huntley Park District was called to order on Wednesday, December 23, 1987 at 8 P.M. Present were Commissioners Mercer, Gurnett, Olson, Woodcock, and Attomey Cowlin and Mr. Wirsing. Commissioner Knott was absent. Mr. Gurnett made a motion to approve the minutes of the November 18 meeting, seconded by Mrs. Mercer. All voted aye and the motion carried. A motion to accept the Treasurer's report was made by Mrs. Mercer, seconded by Mr. Gurnett. All ayes and the motion carried. The bills for the month were presented. A motion to pay all bills was made by Mrs. Mercer, seconded by Mr. Olson. All voted aye and the motion carried. Mr. Wirsing's report and open discussion included storage building, concrete, approach, road approach at Ol'Timer's Park, spraying laws, gates, heater and thermostat, safety list and tractor purchase. Mr. Olson moved for adjournment, second by Mrs. Mercer. The meeting was adjourned at 9:20 P.M.
