On Saturday, August 3rd, Parkside Tap held an appreciation dinner for those who helped construct the bar and grill's new heet garden. The beer garden features cement tales with colorful umbrellas (Miller High Life, Heineken, etc). A conversation nook in the center surrounds a maple tree planted by the yousg businessman. The entire area area is fenced. The section facing Main St. has a privacy fence made of wood. The [back is chain link.

housed two stores, Farley's Store, a small grocery store located to what is now the Huntley Pharmacy and Larson's Meat Market which was located next to Parkside Tap. Farley's Store was run by Walter Farley, a great Cub fan, who could remember in 1906 when basebaU was outlawed in Huntley on Sundays, a group ofthe young men at that time, sneaking down vine St. (Route 47) avoiding the fashionable homes of Woodstock St. to play ball on land where Ben Hansford Chevrolet is now located. The store was fun from
the early part of the century til the 1960's by Mr. Farley and Leo Dwyer, father of Richard Dwyer. Mr. Dwyer started with the store as a boy b 1912 eventually buying Mr. Farley out and selling it in the 1960's. Shortly thereafter the structure burnt and was raised. Larson's Meat Market went many years before and the land remained vacant untfi the construction ofthe new beer garden.
Parkside Tap plans a Pig Roast and Grand Openeing of the beer garden and remodeled bar and grill on August 18th.

Huntley Park District will be holding registration fbr their Fall Soccer League on Saturday, Aug. 17 ftom 9:00 -12:00 at the park office in Deieke Park. If you registered for the Fall-Spring session, you don't have to re-register. The first games will be played on Sat., Sept. 7. Practices will start the week of Aug. 19. The soccer league consists   of  participants   ages

6-15 (must tum 6 by Dec. 1, 1985). Games are played on Sat. momings & early afteraoon. Some travel is involved as we play teams ftota Marengo, Harvard, Belvidere & Hamp¬ shire. Game times vary according to the age groups. Coaches and referees are neededl The fee is $10.00 for the Fall season only. The fee includes a reversible nylon shirt with the soccer logo and a numt>er. A dank, rainy day dampered the expected tumout on Sidewalk Day held last Saturday on August 10th in Huntley. Many merchants did not put out displays and those who did expressed disappointment in the tumout. Few craft booths were in the Village Square..

SPECIAL MEETING AUGUST 6,1985
A special meeting of the Huntley Village Board of Trast¬ ees was called to order at 8 PM on August 6,1985, at the village hall. Attending were Trostees Berlin, Brown, Ahems, Russ, Wicke, and Zimmerman, Pres¬ ident Dhamer, Village Attoraey Szura, and Village Auditor North.
Trustees had studied the resolution and other materials pertaining to the Dean Food Company plans for enlarging the Huntley facility and financ¬ ing this expansion by the sale of industrial revenue lionds. Tras¬ tee Wicke stated that the finance committee was in favor of the resolution and saw no difficulty with its passage. Tras¬ tee Berlin then moved to pass the resolution concerning the issuance of industrial revenue bonds in the amount of $5 million to fund Dean Food Co. expansion in Huntley. Trastee Wicke seconded.
After a call for discussion, Ms. Ann Doherty explained that although the Village of Hunt¬ ley's name will appear on the bonds, the village will be under no legal obligation. The bond proposal must go to the state for allocation and be approved by bond counsel for legality. A public hearing will be held before bonds can be issued.
