Minutes of Huntley Planning Commission
Minutes of Meeting of Huntley Planning Commission August 10, 1987
The regular monthly meeting of the Huntley Planning Com¬ mission was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Chairman Wilmer Rohlwing. Those members of the board present were Paul Mercer, Noel Hansmann, Robert Schachtner, Ron Hahn and Jack Daum. Also present were Mayor Dhamer and Building Inspector Spradlin.
The minutes of the last meeting of June 8, 1987, were read. (There was no July meeting.) Mr. Hansmann moved to .accept the minutes as read. Mr. Daum seconded. Motion carried. The agenda was read.
The first order of business was presented by Ken Bakley regarding their property at the corner of Vine Street and Reed Road, across the street from the Township Garage. The property is presently zoned residential in the County. He would like a letter of recom¬ mendation from the Planning commission to the Huntley Village Board and then to McHenry County in order to change the zoning from resi¬ dential to light industry in Continued on page 6
Board of Education
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #158, Huntley Con¬ solidated Schools, Huntley, Illinois was held in the High School building on July 30, 1987 at 7:30 p.m.
The meeting was called to order by the Secretary at 7:45 p.m. Upon roll call the following members answered present; Mrs. McDonald, Mr. Greve, Mr. Freeberg, and Mr. Bauman. Absent: Mrs. Schadt, Mr. Heavey, and Mr. Miller. All present joined in the pledge to the flag.
1. Mr. Greve moved, Mrs. McDonald 2nd to appoint Mr. Freeberg as Pres. Pro Tem.
4 yeas - 0 nays - motion carried.
2. Mrs. McDonald moved, Mr. Freeberg 2nd to approve the minutes of the June 11 regular meeting as written. 3 yeas - 0 nays - 1 pass - motion carried.

New Principal Announced
4-H'ers at State Fair

Monday was the first day of school for Mr. Eugene Goegline, the new principal for Huntley High School. Mr. Goegline has been the assistant principal at East Troy High School for the past two years. Before that he was the Athletic director at Bigfoot High School in Walworth for seven years. He is currently residing in Walworth with his wife and twin daughters, but is actively seeking residence in Huntley. When asked what he will change about the Huntley school system, he expressed his feeling that he saw no immediate changes needed. He went on to say, "all I expect from my students and staff is best they have to offer and I will give the same in return."
Dentist Joins Huntley Group
Kevin M. Anderson, D.D.S. has joined the Huntley Dental Associates in the practice of general and cosmetic dentis¬ try. He replaces Cynthia M. Nessler, D.D.S., who is now practicing in Chicago.
Dr. Anderson received his undergrad3iate schooling at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska, being award¬ ed a B.S. degree in biology
MCC Registration August irth
Beginning August 17, resi¬ dents can register for such classes as Adventures in Opera to Computer Applica¬ tions through McHenry County College's Community Education program.
The schedule for the College's September and October offerings was mailed to residents recently. Telephone registration begins August 17 and continues through August 21.
In-person registration will be taken from August 17 up to the date of the offering. For a complete listing of classes, seminars and work¬ shops, consult MCC's Septem¬ ber/October Community Educa¬ tion Schedule.
McHenry County 4-H'ers had a blue-ribbon day at the 1987 Illinois State Fair Junior Show on Friday, Aug. 14.
The local youths exhibited projects ranging from nutri¬ tion and fitness to horticul¬ ture and woodworking. More than 7,500 Illinois young people are expected to ex¬ hibit projects in the Junior Division of this year's Fair, which runs through Aug. 23.
"Everyone's a winner at the State Fair Junior Show," said David Pyle, State 4-H Director. "Long after the ribbon has faded and the premium money has been spent, these 4-H'ers will still have the skills and the knowledge they gained through their projects."
Fourteen McHenry County 4-H'ers received "Superior
Awards" for their entries. Superior ratings are awarded at the discretion of the judges to entries they con¬ sider outstanding. Superior Award winners were: Monica Fettes, Huntley, Terrarium; Amy Meyer, Huntley, Garden¬ ing; Baxter Exum, Crystal Lake, Piiblic Speaking; KeUy Long, Marengo, Naturecraft; Brian Ellison, Woodstock, Citizenship; Jason Hogan, Ringwood, Small Grains; Audrey Schambach, Marengo, Stitchery; Deana Behm, McHenry, Stitchery; Jennifer Davidson, Harvard, Clothing; Mark Babbitt, Marengo, Wildlife Conservation; Wendy Zalud, Harvard, Wildlife Conservation; Jason Pedersen, Crystal Lake, Entomology; Andy Heider, Woodstock, Woodworking; and Debra Olbrich, Harvard, Clothing. Automatic Winner At Savings Bank
Joan Hahn of Huntley was the big winner at the McHenry Saving Bank on Saturday. The Bank has installed a new automatic Teller Machine and was giving demonstrations during the Sidewalk Sale. Most people got play money ' from the machine and if they
were lucky, possibly $1.00 in "real money".
Mrs. Hahn however, won $100.00. Shown above is Mary Utriainen, Branch Manager of McHenry Savings Bank, Huntley; Joan Hahn, the lucky winner and her children Erik and Jennifer.
