Huntley Community Library
The Huntley Community Library will be open to the public starting February 7 h from 4 to 6 pm on Tuesdays and 7 to 9 pm on Thursdays. It is, of course, the School Media Center, and it will be open for a three month trial, to see how many people will make use of this facility during evening hours. It's an excellent opportunity for adults to get some reading material, our Jr. High and High School students to make better use of the library and for our younger students tol learn what great reading! material we have to offer.
The library has computers, which with a short instructional period, will also be at our disposal. Mrs. Lawlor will be scheduling instruction times to those interested, not only fbr our own information, but so we can see what our youngsters will be learning in Computer Class.
We are looking forward to a paperback book exchange and some new ideas on new materials needed to better stock our library.
The three month trial period will be funded by the Huntley Ltoness Gub with hopes that in the near future we may be able to have a Community Library on a permanent basis, Mrs. Shirley Williams will be our new evening librarian, however we
are looking for volunteer's who may be iiiterested in working with Mrs. Williams now and then.
Many people in the Huntley area are anxious for the new library hours to begin. We hope YOU will make use of this facility.
A special Newsletter from the school is being sent to all the parents of school children, with a registration form attached. The form is to be filled out and turned in to the library. It is just so we can have a file of the residents using the library and so we can be assured of parental backing, for getting materials back on time so they can be used by others. During the trial period there will be no charge] for the use of the library. If and when we establish a permanent library for public use, we may issue Library Cards and family memberships, for a small fee, to help cover expenses.
We are always looking for opportunities to help better our community. Help us make this one a success. If you are not on the school mailing list you may register at the library when you visit. Don't forget, our new evening hours are 4 to 6 pm on Tuesdays and 7 to 9 pm on Thursdays, starting February 7th.
