PENGUIN SNO WMOBOE PICNIC„
Pictured above are members ofthe Huntiey Penguins Snowmobile Club at their annual picnic which was held in Deicke Park last Sunday. The club had a pig roast and pot luck meal. After the meal, games were provided for the children. The adults made their own games including a tug* of war across Deicke pond. Paul Mercer, a Village Board member and considered a devil by some, ended up in the pond along with Julie Olson and several other Penguins. A thought was provided by some to have snowmobile races across the pond. However this was vetoed by the club. The Penguin Snowmobile Club works diligentiy to provide trails for the sport of snowmobiling. They have donated a sled to transport people who are injured in blizzards and accidents where conventional rescue equipment cannot venture to the Huntiey Fire Departinent. In past yeats they have cooperated with the Huntley Fire Department, Huntiey Police and SherifTs Dept. in times of emergency during the winter months. There are many people alive today because of their efforts. At one time members of the club risked their lives to save children who were stranded in a school bus in the Crystal Lake area. They have done a great deal for our conunuaity. Continued on Page 4
