Winners of the $5 gift certificates were Dawn Timm - best decorated bike in the pet parade; Gerod & Tom Behrendt and with Mindy and Dave Keams with Blue tied for best pet costume while Brad Tharp won most original pumpkin. Mark Donahue was awarded the best decorated pumpkin. Other prizes were won by Chad Warrington for the biggest pumpkin in the fourth grade; Lisa Gow for pumpkin with the most hair; Sherry Ottley for biggest pumpkin over all; Julie Ottley for funniest pumpkin from first grade; Sally Warrington for pumpkin with the biggest smile; Scott Doty for Scarriest pumpkin in fourth grade; Angie Doty for fanciest pumpkin; Greg Colson for best knitted pumpkin; Stacy Tharp for funniest pumpkin from Kindergartem; Mandy Barton for biggest pumpkin from sixth grade; Shawn Conley for funniest pumpkin from second grade; Carrie Conley fdr best Tweety Fie pumpkin and Tom Conley for silliest pumpkin. The other winners in the Pet Parade were Jeff Ferguson and Dutchess for dog with the longest hair; Brian Eisenmenger and Peanut Butter for dog with the shortest hair; Tate Spencer and Buttons for the dUtest dog in a doll buggy; Scott Doty and Brandy for best T-Shirt on a dog; Wendy Smith and Fred and Ernest for best pet rocks; Dave Smith and Fred the fish for the quietest pet; Lisa Gow and Tootsie for the dog with the longest tail; Tom Conley and Sneaky Snake for the most unusual pet; Norlaine Cole and Alex for the biggest pet dog; Dacien McOee and Sabala for the best cat; Wendy Thurow and Tiffany for the dog with the lightest hair. In the decorated bicycle division other winners were Chad Warrington, Brad Tharp, Sally Warrington, Stacy Colson, Angie Doty, Stacy Tharp, Chris Freund and Jenny Freund. Anothe rpet winner was Shana McGee and Keash for the dog that laid down the most. The Pumpkin Festival was sponsored by the Huntley Park District and organized by Recreational Director,. Betsey Warrington. The Park District would like to thank everyone who participated. CHILI SUPPER NOV. 15 Branch 191 Aid Association for Lutherans is sponsoring a Chili Supper for the benefit of the Huntley Fire Protection District to be held Thursday^ Nov. 15 at Trinity LatMfli Church. Huntley, 111. The pro¬ ceeds will be used to purchase a film projector for use in training by the Fire Department. We need to raise approximately $1,000 for this project. On Tues.,Oct. 16, students, faculty and some parents gathered in the gym for a dedication ceremony for the recycled playground, Tire Town U.S.A.. which was built by the Citizen's Advisory Council of Huntiey for the elementary students. The ceremony began with the Jr. High Band playing a fine rendition of the Star Spangled Banner. foUowed by the Pledge of Allegience led by Mrs. Powell and Mrs. Christiansen's fifth grade classes. Super¬ intendant, Dr. Robert Bunt presided. Rev. Roger Mealiff, pastor of The Fu^t Congregational Church, gave the invocation that was followed by remarks by Mrs. Kay Pawl in behalf of the Hundey District 158 Board of Education. Mr. Luke Glowiak, elementary principal was next to address those present. Betsey Warrington, president of the Citizen's Advisory Council, then addressed the students and presented them with the playground. PUB FEATHER PARTY Pictured above is Don Evans presenting a donation to Shane Jordi representing the Huntley Area Jayceess from the West Main St. Pub's recent Feather Party. On October 20th, a Feather Party was held at West Maih Street Pub. The funds were donated to the Huntley Area Jaycees who put on such events as the Haunted House and Pee Wee Football. The turkeys. ducks and chickens were given away to several lucky people at the old laundramat. The entire Bartsch Family from the littiest to the Daddy and Mommy worked to make this Feather Party a success. SHANE JORDI NEW BOY SCOin-LEADER It was announced this week that Shane Jordi will replace Gary DeDina as Huntley Boy Scoutmaster. Shane is an Eagle ScQut and active in Jaycees and their Pee Wee Football and also helps the Huntley High School Football teams. He has distin¬ guished himself maay times in his work with young peo|>ic. Gary OeDina unCoftanatelv left the troop because of a change in employment and hours. He brought a new kind od leadership to the troop with his understanding of these young men. The scouts flourish¬ ed under his charge. While they didn't get as many badges as they have before (this was mi^nly due to foul ups at a Boy Scout Camp) the troop still managed an Eagle Scout, sever¬ al Order of the Arrows and I st place at Galena. That's a record to be proud of. All the Huntley Scouts and their parents wish Gary well and are looking forward to working with Shane. PARK DISTRICT MEEHNQ The regular meeting of th( Huntiey Park District was called to order at 8 P.M. on Wednes day, October 24, 1979. Preseni were Commissioners Ruth. Tures and Mercer and Larry Kahl and Attorney Cowlin. Absent were Borhart and Wel¬ tzien. Open discussion conceming grounds and equipment was helf. Mr. Kahl then left the meeting. The minutes ofthe September meeting were read. Mr. Tures moved to approve the minutes, seconded by Mrs. Mercer. All Commissioners voted aye and the motion carried. The Treasurer's report was presented. Mrs. Mercer moved to accept the report, seconded by Mr. Tures. All Commission¬ ers voted aye and the motion carried. The bills for the month were presented. Mr. Tures made a motion to pay all bills, secondedi by Mrs. Mercer. All Commis¬ sioners voted aye and the motion carried. The bids for snow plowing were opened. Two bids were received. A motion by Mr. Ruth, seconded by Mrs. Mercer, was to table the bids until nc<:t month to get more information to compare the bids. All Commissioners voted aye a.id the motion carried. Committee reports were given. These included next week's tree planting, wash¬ rooms, repairing and replacing equipment. Betsey Warrington entered the meeting. She gave her report on the pumpkin festival, gymnastics, basketball, volley¬ ball, trimnastics. crafts, soccer and ski club. A lengthy discus¬ sion followed conceming future programs. Ice skating for this winter was the nezt topic discussed. Mrs. Mercer moved for adjournment, seconded by Mr. Xures. The meeting was ad¬ journed at 9f20 P.M.
