Spring Concert - Smash Hit
**^
Pictured are scenes ftom the Spring Concert held May 20th. It was one of the most moving concerts we have ever witnessed. The band and their director, Jeff Redmann, outdid themselves. The guest performances were superb and the entire evening worth every music-filled second. Mr. Redmann should be very proud of, not only his own accomplishments in the music field, but also what he has accomplished with his students. We hope we never lose him.
"Our Own" Choral Director, Ann Tirk, who we are always very happy to call "our own", again did an excellent job with her end of the program.
The "Grand Finale" - The Battle Hymn of the Republic - done by combined bands and choirs left not a dry eye in the place while the largest flag I ever saw was uncovered in the background. If you missed the Spring Concert, you missed a great treat!
Martin Redmann is a member of the "Commandant's Own", the United States Marine Drum and Bugle Corps of Washington D.C. The Drum Corps represents the Marine Corps throughout the world as well as numerous ceremonies in the national capital area honoring visiting dignitaries and heads of state. In addition to being a soloist fbr the "Commandant's Own" he has performed with the Dallas Jazz Orchestra and the Warren Daly Big Band of Sydney, Australia. Military awards include a Ntvy Unit commendation. Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal and the Marine Corps Distinguished Service Award.
Erich Miller (far right) recently earned his Master of Music degree from Northern Illinois University where he had been a graduate assistant in the Percussion Department. He did part of his undergraduate work at the St. Louis Conservatory of Music, two years at the college prep level and two years on the collegiate level and he finished his bachelor degree in music performance at North Texas State University in Denton, Texas. Erich Miller's performing background is a wide ranging one. He has been a member in good standing of the American Federation of Musicians Local 717 since the age of 14. He has played in a variety of professional bands as well as symphonies. Currently Mr. Miller is a part time faculty member of Elgin Community College, plays with groups such as the Elgin Symphony Orchestra and the Illinois Chamber Symphony Orchestra, and is fi-eelancing in the Northern Dlinois/Chicagoland area.
