Glaucoma Unit Coming to Hantley

Glaucoma is called the "sneak thelf of sight." It la an eye diaeaae marked by an Increaae In fluid (weaaure within the eyeball. If unchecked and untreated, that Increases will damage the eye and cause blindness.
Glaucoma la one of the leadhig causes of blindness today, partictilarly among thoae at least 35 yeara old and dder. If fbund eatly and treated medically, chancea are excellent ¦ that glaucoma can be halted.

The visual acuity acreenhig ia done on Thmua machines manned by Lions Qub volun¬ teers. The glaucoma acreenlng is done by a liceaaed medical doctor, an (^rfithalmologiat ( edlcal eye specialist) furnish¬ ed by the Univershy of UUnoia' Abraham Lhicoln School of Medicine. Funds for the screenings come mosdy from Candy Day, held statewide tbe aeeond Friday of every October.

Henty Matlowe of Mariowe Feed and Hatchery of Hundey was honored by approximatdy shi hjinilied of hia frienda and ensttmcM tast Taeaday Oct. 18th. at the SOih anniversary celebration at the McHenry County Fairgrounda. The high¬ light of the day, waa a live presentatioo of Orion Samuel¬ son's Noon Farm Program aired over WGN Radio. The program hiduded live muaic and Singer Cathy Johnaon. Samuelaon gave a short history, praising Mr. Marlowe for hia courage and success in biuineaa.
He said, "Mr. Mariowe had a great deal of courage fbr starting a bualness In a depression year, 1933. He aaked. Mr. Mariowe how he atarted die' bushiesa this year, Mr. Mariowe replied tbat he waa a acbod teacher at the Hnntley School and hU salary in 1931 waa S2200 and hi 1932 h waa S2100. Huntley Park District wUl again be sponsoriag a Hallo¬ ween Party on Monday, October 31 at die Hundey Grade School at 6:30 p.m. The narty will begin with a costume parade. Treats will be paased out A a Dianey cartoon fieature will be ahown. Following the cartoons, refresh- menU will be served in the school cafeteria. Trick-or-Treat- hig time is from 4:00 - 6:00.
