The new store will be called Car Quest «nd will be owned and operated by Bill Choin and his two sons, Leon dc Brian. The new store will feature all makes of auto supplies includ¬ ing tractor, truck and sportscar parts. They will specialize in rebuilding starters and generat¬ ors and will repair the part in their machine shop. Mr. Choin has been in the Mr. Choin has worked in this type of business for many years. He previously worked for an implement dealer in Warren¬ ville and before that Fischback in Dundee, The Choin Family has lived the Huntley area for the last eight years. Mr. Choin plans to keep the new store open 7 days a week with weekday hours of 7 am to 8 pm Monday and Friday; 7 am to 6 pm the rest of the week: Saturday 8 • S and Sunday 10 - 2 The stores Grand Opening has been set for October 15th,and Mr. Choin hopes that all his Huntley neighbors and friends will join him that day. PARK DISTRICT MINUTES The regular meeting of the Huntley Park District was called to order at 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 23, 1978. Present were Commissioners Mackeben, Ruth and Tures and Attorney Cowlin. Commis¬ sioners Deicke & Borhart were absent. The minutes of the July 2t> meeting were read. Mr. Ruth moved the minutes be approv¬ ed, seconded by Mr. Mfickeben. All Commissioners yoii & eye and the motion carried. The Treasurer's report, was given, Mr. Tures moved for approval, seconded by Mre. Mackeben. All ComiitissioDers voted aye and the motion carried. The bills for the month were presented. A motion to pay all bills was made by Mr. Ruth, seconded by Mr. Tures. All Commissioners voted aye and the motion carried. The Tax Levy Ordinance was diatributed and studied. After tome discussion, Mr. Mackeben made a motion to accept the ordinance, aeeonded by Mr. Tures. AU Commiationera voted aye and the motion carried. The board discutted tranifer- rlng pan of the cash balance into a tavingi account. A modon by Mr, Turel, aeeonded by Mr. Ruth, waa to Instruct the Treaaurer to handle the traaa- fer. WADDELL VIEWS CONGESTION ON RT. 47 James Skomer was hired as Principal ofthe Huntley Consolidated High School at the School Board Meeting last Thursday, August 24th, Mr. Skomer replaced William Moylan who tendered his resignation at the August lOth meeting. Mr. Skoner is a 1%1 graduate of Northwestern School of Music with a Bachelor of Music Education. He received his Masters in music from Northwestern in 1966 and his Administration Certificate from Northem Illinois University. Prior to accepting the position as principal of Huntley School Mr. Skomer was Dean of Students at Fenton High School in Bensonville. His duties included being the disciplinarian at that school. Prior to his position as Dean., he directed the chorus at the school for 13 years. He, his wife. Laurel and their three children, Douglas, 12; Kevin,10, and Karyn,6, live in Hoffman Estates. The new principal invites the people of this community to stop in if they have any concems, questions or suggestions. SCHOOL BOARD MEETING The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #158, Huntley Con¬ solidated Schools. Huntley. Ill¬ inois was held in the High School building on August 24, 1978 at 7:30 p.m. The President called the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. Upon roll call the following answered present: Mr. Spears, Mrs. Pawl, Mr. Pupich, Mr. Brettschneider, Mrs. Livingston and Mr. Zirk. Mr. Grismer being absent. At this time all present joined in the Pledge to the Flag. A motion was made by Mr. Pupich and 2nd by Mr. Brett¬ schneider to approve the minut¬ es of the August 10 meeting as written. The motion carried 6 yeas and no nays. Mr. Grismer joined the meet¬ ing at 7:33 P.M, Mr. Pupich moved Mrs. Pawl 2nd to retire three separate T.A.W.'s in the amounts of $100,000 plus interest. S7S.000 plus interest and S75,000 plus Interest. The motion carried with 7 yeas and no nays. Mrs. Pawl moved and Mr. Brettschneider 2nd that the sum of $50,000 be repaid to the Building Fund, with the balance of $60,778.29 to follow In the future as additional funds become available. The motion carried 7 yeas and no nays. The Preaident presented the following resolution: RESOLVED, that the bid of Northem Trust A Sute Bank of Huntley being the bid received most favorable to the District for the sale of the $425,000 Working Cash Fund Bonds, be accepted in accordance with the terms of the notice of sale and sid bid; that a copy of said notice of sale and said accepted bid be attached to these minutes; that the checks of the other bidders accompanying their bids be retumed to them and that the check of Northern Trust suc¬ cessful bidder, in the sum of $8500 be held by the School Treasurer in accordance with the terms contained in the notice of sale. Mr. Grismer moved that the foregoing resolution be adopted and Mr. Pupich 2nd the motion. The motion was put to a vote and upon roll call being taken the members voted as follows: Yeas: Grismer, Pupich, Pawl. Brettschneider. Zirk and Living¬ ston. No nays. Passed: Spears. The motion carried. At 7:47 P.M. the Board went into Executive Session to dis¬ cuss personnel. Came out of session at 8; 19 P.M. Mrs. Pawl moved while Mr. Brettschneider 2nd to accept the resignation of Charles Potter, effective August 24, 2978. The motion carried 7 yeas and no nays. A motion by Mrs. Pawl 2nd by Mr. Pupich to approve the contract of Margaret Vanco, K-S Learning Disabilities. BA 1st step. The motion carried with 7 yeas and no nays. A motion by Mr. Pupich 2nd by Mrs. Pawl to approve the contract of James Skomer aS' High School Principal at a salary of $22,000. The motion carried with 7 yeas and no naya. A motionby Mr. Brettsch¬ neider 2nd by Mr. Zirk to Continued on Back Page Wednesday, August 30th, State Representative Bruce Waddell visited Huntley at 3:00 p.m. to see the traffic conditions on Route 47. Mayor Enstrom greeted Rep. Waddell in front of the Village Hall with Chief Richard Ptak on hand. The group then preceeded to Route 47 and Main Street for a look at traffic conditions. The Mayor was explaining the situation at 5 school buses, Union Special traffic, school children crossing and numerous other vehicles. When the construction on Route 47 was proposed so was a stop light for the comer of Main St. and Route 47. Now however the Department of Transportation has stated that a light cannot be put in until lat 1979 or eariy 1980, Many resident and public officials of Huntley believe'that the lights are necessary now and that it why Republican Whip Waddell was asked to view this major road and its conditions. Rep. Waddell stated that he felt good about the improvements made on 47. He had been instrumental in getting the road widened and repaved. He also said that the road was getting where it should be. Rep. Waddell told ut that there were two problems at far aa getting the traffic signals now. The flrat it that the Department of Transportation does not have money allotted to put in the lignal until 1979-80. He taid that pottibly if there waa tome leftover from other projects that it could be alloted for the signal. The second problem is correlating the railroad crotting tignt with the traffic tignals. The expenae and work on the railroad tignt it up to the Chicago & Northwettera Railroad. Rep. Waddell taid that he would talk to both the Department of Tranaportation and the C ft N W and see what could be done. He alao aaid that if reaidentt were concemed they thould contact both agendet. Rep. Waddell alto said that the Department of Tranaportation does have tome tontrol over railroad funding and might be able to speed up the work if residents called and wrote and let them know how they felt.
