Thursday, June 16 marks a special Open House Day with a ribbon cutting, flag raising ceremony scheduled for 2:00 P.M. U.S. Congressman Robert McQory and State Representative Bruce Waddell will be on hand to official the proceedings as well as many other local dignatiaries and Huntley's own American Legion Color -guard group. Wayne Miller, President of the State Bank of Huntley, announced today that the parade will start from the Downtown Park with the Dundee Scots leading at 1:30 PM. The parade route will be down Church St. to Algonquin Rd. to the New bank. Some seating will be available for senior citizens at the new bank where the ceremonies will begin at 2:00 PM. Dundee Scots to parade- the nationally known Dundee Scots will also organize a parade. Doyle Haffton, the Scots' able director has indicated that the parade will start in front of the old Huntley Bank at approximately 1:30 P.M. and will march to the new bank building for flag raising ceremonies at 2:00 p.m. Thursday. Open House day will include serving special refreshments from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M. There will be tours ofthe banks new facilities and a registration for prizes also. Friday, June 17 marks the official Grand Opening for business and a two-week celebration. The public may register fbr a grand prize of a color TV set. Ladies will receive a live Carnation, children ballons and to the first 350 persons using the new Drive-in facilities they will receive a surprise gift from the bank. Roy Bankes, Executive V.P. of the bank has announced new longer customer hours. They are: Mondays, Thucsdi^ and Wednasdaya-Lobby howra 9-3; drive-in 9-5; Friday hours lobby 9-3 Sc. 4-6; drive-in 9-6; Saturday lobby & drive-in 9-noon. HUNTLEY GIRL WINS N.I. GAS POSTER CONTEST The entries are in -- the judges have carefully made their decisions- and Joann Jones, a fifth grader from Huntley Elementary School in Huntley has been declard a winner. The event? Northern Illinois Gas' (Nl-Gas) annual Energy Poster Contest. The competition, open to all elementary schools in-Nl-Gas' 17,000 square mile territory, offered students in the third, fourth and fifth grades the opportunity to illustrate their ideas on why natural gas supply is importantto them. The students* efforts were judged on creativity, originality, message and neatness. Joann's poster, "Hey Everybody Don't Waste Gas; You Might not be as Lucky as You were in the Past," was chosen from entries received in Mi-Gas northwest division, headquartered in Crystal Lake. One winner was selected from each of the untility's thirteen operating areas, located through¬ out the northern third of Dlinois. "The natural gas supply theme was stressed t>ecause of the current energy situation," observed Jean Cooney, Nl-Gas northwest division energy consultant - deucational services. ' "We feel the competition encourages students to investigate, evaluate and become more aware of the world of natural gas energy." The thirteen winners were presented a S25 cash award and were congratulated, along with their parents and teachers, at a banquet in thdr homor at the Branding Iron Restaurant in Downers Grove. Joann Jones, a fifth grader from Huntley Elementary School in Huntley, accepts the award for her winning poster in Nl-Gas Energy Poster Contest.
