If you haven't been able to justify the donation, pleaae read on. Yes, ten d(41ars Is a tot of money, but It ia probably ooe of the best Investments you could make in the youth of thia oommunity. Computer literacy is no longer an extra-curricular luxury. Computers can be uaed to enhance baak education. They can aUow smaU diatricta such as ours the variety oi leaming experiences usuaUy reaerved for larger dlatricts. The proper use of oomputers can allow for more efRcient and effective uae of the funds avaUable to our School Diatrict. That can save us tax doUars in the future.
The presidential commission of "ExceUence in Education" recommended that schocris include computer education in their basic core program. Thia cornea at a time when schools are financiaUy strapped and must c«msider cutting estabUah¬ ed programs rather than adding new programa. Yet District 158 has been involved in fbrmutot- ing a ctMBpoter program and tfae parents of the district are backing that effori by attempt¬ ing to raise funds to purchaae the equipment neceaaary to make the program viable. So, if you can alfiMrd to help, don't delay.
Plan on attending the Farmers Market thla ooming Saturday, purchaaing a ticket, and having a good ttme. Remember, you reaUy can't loae. You wiU come away eitfaer richer in the knowledge that hou
