ScIkwI Board President Wally Pupich stated that Mrs. Livingston deserved this award because of her dedication and hard wori not only aia Boartf melUbier biif ks HK President. Mrs. Livingston, past president of the huntley School District 158 Board of Education, was recognized at the February 11 board meeting held in the high school library. Mr. Walter Pupich, current board president, presented Mrs. Livingston with a gavel plaque in recognition of her outstanding contributions to the district. Present at the recognition were fellow board members, district administrators, teachers, and members of the community. Coffee and cake were served. Mrs. Livingston was elected to the Board in 1976 and served as president from 1977' - 1981. During her tenure as president, the district went through a very trying financial crises, but mainly due to her leadership and foresight was able to tum the situation around. Today, District 158 has a balanced budget and a school program of the highest quality. Much of this excellence has been due to the vision and perseverence of Mrs. Livingston. Continued on Page 2 HUNTLEY FIRE DEPARTMENT HONORED TTie Huntley Fire Protection District has been honored by the National Fire Safety Council for its efforts in providing Huntley young people in grades kindergarten through eight with a fire safety, program. Fire Chief Philip Freund was presented with a plaque by Ralph Larsen, Area Fire Safety Coordinator for the NFSC. The NFSC is a non-profit, federally tax-exempt organization which provides fire departments with materials dealing with all aspects of fire prevention and fire safety. This program is used in cooperation with the Huntley Schools. On March 1st, a hearing will be held at the Geneva Courthouse before Judge Krause to determine if 176 additional hangars can be added to "The Landings"; if Ordin¬ ance 80-37 amending the zoning ordinance of Kane County is unconstitutional and under Count IV to award the plaintiffs $4,000,000. Currently there are 100 planes housed at "The Landings." The following is ezerpts from the complaint filed in the 16th Judicial Circuit. Now come the plaintiffs. Ford City Bank and Trust Company and Ford City Bank and Trust Company, as Trustee under Trust No. 515, Barko Develop¬ ment Corp., an Illinois Corpora¬ tion, The Landings Airstrip Corporation, a Delaware Cor¬ poration and the Landings Airport Condominium Owners Association, by Jack M. Siegel and David H. Armstrong, their attomeys and pursuant to leave and directions contained in the Order of Court dated and filed heroin on October 5, 1981 amend Counts 1, II and IV of their complaint to read as follows: The plaintiff. Ford City Bank, as Trustee under Tmst No. 515 dated June 11, 1973, is one of the Legal owners of the property located in the unincorporated area of Kane County, lying in Rutland Township. That said property is currently improved with a landing strip, hangars, taxi- ways, fuel pumps and other facilities and is utilized as a Restricted Landing Area (here¬ inafter referred to as RLA) and known as "The Landings". That the plaintiff Ford City Bank is the holder of the mortgage on the subject property. That the plaintiff Barko Development Corp. is an Ulinois corporation which holds the beneficial interest in Trust No. 515 as aforesaid. That the plaintiff Landings Airstrip Corporation is a Delaware corporation holding ownership interest in the airstrip on real eastate herein¬ above described and other property affixed to said real estate. That the plaintiff the Landings Airport Condominium Owners Assodation is a condominium association estab¬ lished under the laws of the State of Illinois and holding a ownership interest in a portion of the above-described property and owns and controls the stock of Plaintiff Umdings Airstrip Corporation. That the defendant County of Kane is a body politic and corporate and is a political sutxUvision os the State of Illinois exercising certain pow¬ ers and duties pursuant to the sututes of thc Sute of Dlinois. That the County of Kane has heretofore adopted a zoning ordinance which purports* to divide the unicorporated area of Kane County into use districts and to limit the use of land witiiin the unincorporated areas of the County of Kane in accordance with the provisions of said zoning ordinance. That said zoning ordinance also provides for the granting of special uses by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Kane pursuant to the provisions of said ordinance. That heretofore, to wit on September 9, 1969, the Kane County Board of Supervisors did adopt a certain ordinance granting a special use for the above-described property to permit said property to be used as a restricted landing area. That pursuant to the provisions of said special use ordinance, the .plaintiffs herein caused said property to be improved for the purposes of a ctmdominium RLA. That said RLA consists of a 3,000 foot paved and lighted airstrip, taxiways, fuel puoqis, hangars and related facilities. That pursuant to the rules and regulations of the Illinois Division of Aeronautics said airport can be developed fw hangars acoommodating 276 aircraft. That said airport has been approved for use by private planes having a gross weight of less thatn 12,500 pounds by the Federal Aviation Administration and the IlUnois Department of TransporUtion, Division os Aeronautics. That said RLA consists of approxi¬ mately 54 acres. That at present time tbe RLA is subject to condominium ownership, induding ownership of certain common elemenU by plaintiff Landings Airport Con¬ dominium Assodation. That there are preaently located on said RLA hangars accommodat¬ ing 100 aircraft owned by individual members of the Landings Airport Condominium owners Assodatiott, plaintiff herein That said RLA was developed by the plaintiff Barko Develop¬ ment Corp. which instaUed aU improvements on said RLA and conveyed individual hangar sites to the members of the Airport Condominium Owners Assodation. That approximately 30 acres remain unsold in said RLA, which property is held.by the plaintiff Ford City Bank as^ Trustee, and Barko as beneficial '^ owner. That the plaintiff Barka has invested about approxinut- ely two and one-half milUon doUars for the land improve¬ ments, runways and taxiways for the development of said RLA. That space remain for hangars accommodating an additional 176 aircrafi at said RLA. AUXILIARY NEWS The Feb. meeting of tbe AuxUiary Unit 673 met at tbe Legion Home mi Febraary llth at 7:30 p.m. The minutes of tbe last meeting were read by Mrs. Marilyn Eckman and approved.. The Treasurer's Report was given by Mrs. Betty Zirk. Mabel SchulU gave a report on the Essay Ccmtest saying that the essays were now in the hands of the judges. Mrs. SchulU made a motion to bave cash prizes in each dass. 1st place is $10; 2'nd place S5 and 3rd place $3. The motion carried. Essay winners, tfaeir parenU and judges wiU be at tbe Marcfa Meeting.
