HUNTLEY PARK DISTRICT MINUTES The regular meeting of the Huntley Park District Board was hold on Wednesday. December 22nd. 1976 at 8:00 pm. The meeting was called to order by President Parisek. with Commiss¬ ioners Mackeben. Parisek and Ruth present and Commissioners Tures and Deicke absent. The Secretary was asked to read the minutes of the previous meeting of 11 -24-76. after which a motion was made by Mr. Macke¬ ben. seconded by Mr. Ruth, to approve the minutes as read. All Commissioners voted aye and the motion carried. The Treasurers report was then presented, showing a balance in the checking account of $12,123.- 19. A motion was made by Mr. Ruth, seconded by Mr. Mackeb¬ en. to accept the report as presented. All Commissioners vo¬ ted aye and the report as present¬ ed. All Commissioners voted aye and the report was filed for audit. The President then presented the monthly bills for payment, after which a motion was made by Mr. Mackeben, seconded by Mr. Ruth to pay all bills as presented. Upon roll call all Commissioners voted aye and the motion carried. Commissioner Parisek present¬ ed the board with a suggestion that a memo sheet or bulletin board be maintained to list all unfinished business and suggest¬ ions from meetings. After some discussion on the matter the board agreed to purchase 2 bulletin boards to be posted in the meeting room. One is to carry the Continued on Page 2 Eighth grade players: Jim Goehl. Huntley gained its chance at the championship with a 52-42 win over Olson of Woodstock on Wednesday night. The early going was a basket matching contest with neiiher team taking control. With the score knotted at nine. Olson reeled off two quick baskets to grab a 13-9 advantage at the quarter. The royals came back from their rather sluggish start to sci>re five straight baskets in the second quarter. Adam Brunschon lead the Huntley comeback with seven points. Huntley was able to move the ball around well, using Jim Goehl drives with the ball against Northwood. Goehl was one of the top scorers and defensive players for Huntley. (Photo by Steve Morrow) ROYALS WIN HOLIDAY TOURNAMENT by Ralph Henning The Huntley 7th and Sth grade basketball team scored victories on Wednesday and Thursday night last week to win the Woodstock Lions Holiday Tour¬ nament. After the opening round victory over the host team St. Mary's, the Royals ran and dcfensed their way to the championship. Huntl¬ ey's most impressive performan¬ ce came in the championship game when they managed only a slim lead at the half, but went on nulsidc shots to compliment its inside game. Good crisp passign and pressing defense put pressu¬ re on the slower Olson team. At the half Huntley held a 24-21 edge. Five Royal players hit for five or more points. Each player kept Huntley going with several baske¬ ts in different periods. It was this team offensive effort combined with a hustjing defense, that forced turnovers, that kept the Royals out in front throughout the rest ofthe game. Huntley built on their halftime lead and went on to defeat Olson 52-42. Jim Goehl with a steady offens¬ ive output shared top scoring honors with Adam Brunschon. who had an excellent first half under the boards. Dave Schacht¬ ner and Mike Lovins added some scoring punch that kept Huntley our in front in the second half. Sixth manScott Nepermann was also instrumental In the Royals' comeback effort in the second quarter. The scorers were there at the right times, but not to be overlcv>ked should be defensive hustle that would be a trade mark i>f the Royals performance throu¬ ghout the tournament.
