I f lie Entitle^ Jarmsik USPS 580-360 THURSDAY, MAY 26, 1988 VOLUME 28-NUMBER 8 OFFICE PHONE 312-669-5621 SERVING THE PEOPLE OF HUNTLEY SINCE 1960 25( per copy Minutes Of The Village Board Trustee Meeting The first Meeting of the new fiscal year, Thursday, May 12, 1988, was held in the Board Room of the Village Hall and brought to order by the President at 8:00 P.M. Present were: President Dhamer, Trustees Wicke, Brown, Berlin, Borowicz, Greve and Hoeft. Also attending were Attorney Kukla, Village Engineer Schwegel and Police Chief Rossi. The first order of business was the presentation of minutes and action.of same as follows: 1) The Regular Meeting of April 14, 1988: Approved as presented with no additions nor corrections. 2) The payroll schedule as corrected noting the Sewer/Water Operator salary should have been $26,250.00, unanimously approved. 3) The Annual Meeting of April 19, 1988 - Trustee Greve, after discussion, asked that his statement "that he had no problem with the Building Inspection per se" be retracted and that his statement be that the Board was not dealing with the building Inspector but with the Building Inspector's salary. Trustee Wicke asked his reasons and Trustee Greve said he had reviewed the building permit chart furnished to him by the Clerk. After furthur discussion. President Dhamer called for the Trustees' vote regarding Trustee Greve's retraction, and roll noted: Berlin, yes. Brown, yes, Borowicz, pass, Hoeft, pass and Wicke, yes. There being no objectors, the retraction was allowed. President Dhamer stated that he too had a problem with the April 19, 1988 minutes in that the statement regarding Collector Staab's salary was incorrect and that he had not asked that she should have $7.00/hour but that she should have 5% as the other village employees. Trustee Wicke made a motion, seconded by Trustee Hoeft, to change the minutes as per President Dhamer's request. Class II: 1st Place Nikki Dyer, 2nd Place Kelly Cook, 3rd Place Bobbie Parks Class III 1st Place Cindy Gaylord, 2nd Place Karen Schrok, Srd Place Michael Mansfield Class IV: 1st Place Carrie Oltendorf, 2nd Place Debbie Barnes, Srd Place Dawn Petropolis Awards are presented at the June 9th meeting of the American Legion Auxilary, Huntley Post 673, beginning at 7:30. All winners are asked to be present. There will be a short recess after the presentation with refreshments. Parents are invited. All first prize winners are sent to Dept. for further judging. Last year's first place winner in State was a Huntley student, and received a $500.00 scholarship. So it's worth an entry and also helps keep the memories of our dead and disabled veterans. Boy Scout's Pancake Breakfast A Huge Success The past Sunday, Boy Scout Troop 167 conducted their annual pancake breakfast. Approximately 300 people turned out for a deUcious breakfast of eggs, sausage and pancakes prepared by the scouts and their leaders. A special thank you is extended to the following: Huntley Supermarket Deans Milk American Legion Ventura Real Estate Huntley Farmside Mr. ic Mrs. B. Jilek Mr. Heinz Mr. D. Colson Mrs. McLaughlin Mrs. Nied Most of all the scouts wish to thank everyone who showed their support by attending. Milk Days Are For Everyone Participants — everyone from bed racers to float pullers — are invited to join in the 1988 Harvard Milk Days celebration. If you can push a bed, ride a horse, run a footrace, make a float or sing a song. Milk Run, the parade and talent show. Bed races start Milk Days rolling when time trials are held at 7p.m. Friday, May 27, with the championship finals at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 31. The course is plotted over a block of the Milky Way, and men's women's and mixed teams are invited. No experience is needed, said chairman Dennis McCauley, but those with speedy bed-making skills may have a competitive edge. To register, call McCauley at (815) 943-6441 or (815) 943-4614. Entries will be accepted the evening of the races. The fee is $25 for business-sponsored teams and $15 for others. The Milk Days horse show, sponsored by Wadsworth Feed ic Saddlery, will open Milk Days Week at 9 a.m. Sunday, May 29. Registration for the 25 classes begins at 8 a.m. The Continued on page 14
