Park District Meeting
The regular meeting of the Huntley Park District was called to order at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18, 1987 by President Mercer. Present were Commissioners Mercer, Gurnett, Olson and Knotts, while Woodcock was absent. Also in attendance were Attorney Cowlin, LePoy Wirsing, Betsey Warrington and Deb McDaniel.
A motion to approve the minutes of the October 28th meeting was made by Mr. Olson, second by Mr. Knotts. All Commissioners voted aye and the motion carried.
Mr. Gurnett made a motion to accept the Treasurer's report, seconded by Mr. Olson. All voted aye and the motion carried.
The bills for the month were presented. A motion to pay all bills was made by Mr. Gurnett, seconded by Mrs. Mercer. All ayes and the motion carried.
Mr. Wirsing reported on lighting repair, Com. Edison, grill repair, table storage, storage building, drainage, garbage and safety report.

Daisy  Investiture  1987
Last Wednesday and Thursday the Huntley troops of Brownie Scouts and Daisy Scouts held their  1987 investiture. There were  10 girls invested into the Daisy Scouts and  10 into the Brownies.
These girls are: Marion Hansen, Jennifer Ross, Dawn Tinsley, Stephanie Musgrave, Rachel Borhart, Susan Stier, Nancy Archbeault, Dawn Verick, Lindsie Neal, Krista Jurs, Anna Bock, Kandyce Eliason, Kimberly Fredrick, Melisa Johnston, Beth Miller, Lisa Neal, Deanne Radloff, Lisa Ravagnie, Danielle Schmidt and Kerri Tumminello.
Planning  Commission   Discusses  Airport
The regular monthly meeting of the Huntley Planning Commission was called to order at 8:00 p.m. by Chairman Wilmer Rohlwing. Those members of the board present were Noel Hansmann, Robert Schachtner, Jack Daum, Paul Mercer and Ron Hahn. Also present was Mayor Dhamer and Building Inspector John Spradlin.
Mr. Mercer moved to dis¬ pense with the reading of the minutes. Mr. Daum seconded. Motion carried. There was a large group of approximately 125 people in attendance at this meeting.
The first order of business was presented by Mr. Raymond Beneke who is from Ames, Iowa, and interested in putting up a Casey Convenient Store on Rt. 47 in Huntley. Mr. Beneke explained that Casey's is an Ames, Iowa organization. There are 600 stores half of which are
owned by the Casey organiza¬ tion, the other half are franchises. This franchise would be owned by himself and his wife and another husband and wife by the name of Mr. and Mrs. Pickles. They have two other stores. The stores sell a variety such as fresh pizza, donuts and rolls, and line of groceries. They will employ approximately 12 people, hopefully locally. They have an option on a lot now owned by Mrs. Schinske
on east side of Rt. 47 across from Union Special. Mr. Beneke showed photographs of their other Casey stores. Mr. Beneke is a retired pro¬ fessor.
The Planning Commission members have copies of plans. The Casey organization dictates construction of which there is some flexi¬ bility. They hope to get construction under way by March 1 and under business by
May 1. The hours of the store
would be from 7 a.m. to 11
p.m., some seasons earlier.
They would also have two gas
pumps and sell packaged
liquors. The lot is currently
zoned R-2 and will need B-3
zoning. The parking lot is
built to provide 10 parking
stalls and two on the drive.
Ralph Hardy is their
attomey.
Mr. Daum moved that the
Huntley Planning Commission
reccommend to the Huntley
Zoning Board and Huntley
Village Bioard to accept the
plans as presented for a
Casey Convenient Store on
Route 47, across from Union
Special, subject to zoning
requirements and including a
variance for a seven (7) foot
back lot. Also, that two
approach lanes are needed.
Mr. Hansmann seconded. Upon
roll call there were six
(ayes) and no (0) nays,

Fifth Annual Turkey  Festival November 25th
This evening, Wednesday, November 25, at Igg's Parkside Tap, Huntley there will be a Fifth Annual Turkey Testicle Festival.
The evening's festivities will include trukey testicle tasting, music, and turkey games. The festival is held in celebration of Thanksgiving.
There will be a cover charge at the door. Proceeds from this cover will be donated by Igg to the American Cancer Society. This event is expected to draw nearly 500 people. It is hoped that the Cancer Society will receive in excess of $1000 toward their efforts.
Senior Citizen  Club
Senior Citizen Club met Nov 19th for the regular monthly meeting and pot luck at the Congregational Church Social Hall. After the meal, Dave Veath, fire chief, presented a film on fire prevention and safety in the home and spe¬ cial precautions around a stove.
In the absence of President Fred Ahrens, Vice-President Doris Ball presided. She called the meeting to order and led the Pledge of Allegiance. Roll call was taken and minutes were read and approved. Treasurer Knaak read her report which was accepted. The birthday song was sung for Evelyn Benning, the only November celebrant present. December committee members are Doris Ball, Nancy Grimes and Louise Kruetzer. Meeting will be December 17th.

Huntley Lioness
The November 18th meeting was begun with prayer by Lioness Borhart after which a delicious pot-luck dinner was enjoyed by 16 Lioness and 13 guests. After dinner Dan Kerns informed us of the needs for the community library. Funds have been depleted and there is a possibility the library will have to close. Mr. Kerns would like to see Huntley have its own library like other communities. After questions and answers Lionesses Kohiey, Selpien, Borhart volunteered to see what is involved in the procedure of establishing a library for our community.
Lioness Wassertrass installed four new members. Lionesses Marlene Selpien, Tina Ratcliffe, Mary Little and Gloria Evert were welcomed into the club.
