"Tirryi MILLIE RUTH NAMED BANK DIRECTOR 8 & 40 INSTALLATION The First National Bank of Marengo has announced that Mrs. Mildred Ruth has been named an Honorary Director of the bank. Mrs. Ruth, the widow of the late Ruth, has lived in Huntley all her life, and is presently employed at Union SpeciSl as an expediter. Prior to her 13 year career with Union Special she was the owner of a local small business. She is the mother of Chuck Ruth, owner of Alliance Contractors and Super¬ visor of Grafton Township, Penny Tharp, a Huntley resi¬ dent, and Bill Ruth, a local farmer. Mrs. Ruth has also been the Secretary to the Grafton Town¬ ship for the last 12 years. Ed Mrkvicka, the bank's President stated, "We are so pleased to have Mrs. Ruth join the bank's Board. She has an exemplary record of service to her community, and her busi¬ ness expertise will be of great service to the bank. She will give added assistance to those problems unique to the farming community, as well as those facing today's female banking population. It is extrf'mely rare to find a person with Mrs. Ruth's qualifications and back¬ ground that is so willing to give the extraordinary time and effort required for a bank Directorship. BOB FRANK IN WHO'S WHO Dr. Robert Frank, McHenry County College's division ch,*!rmanl for humanities and communications, has been included in the 16th| edition of Who's Who in the Midwest. Frank, a well known speaker in the McHenry County Area,| teaches courses on death education and philosophy at the College, where he has been an instructor since 1973. A Huntley resident who serves as a trustee on that village's board, Frank was named teacher of the year at MCC for 1976-77 and | again for 1977-78. He was ordained to the ministry of the Congregational Church in 1966, received his PH.D. from Hastings Coatfamed on Inalde Page MARGE MARLOWE HOLDS EXTENSION MEETING A special meeting of member¬ ship chairmen (2nd Vice Presi¬ dent) and Public Information Chairman was called on Thurs¬ day in the Extension Office in Woodstock by Mrs. Marge Marlowe. The purpose of the meeting was to have each of the twenty units in the county attain 2 new members as a minimum this year and a free tour trip wiiich is to be announced, to the unit with the most member* acquired. In order to acquaint many women with the varied pro¬ grams H.E.A. has to offer, posters will be placed in special places where phone numbers are furnished for information to call many units or the Extension Office. Those who attended this meeting heard Nancy Moore, Extension Home Economics Adviser explain to them that the Homemakers Extension Assoc, is the only ptx>fessional organi¬ zation for the homemakers. The adult educational program is provided through the Coopera¬ tive Extension Service. The programs are now being planned by all members of the unit each one choosing the type of lesson they would like to have given to them. Among some of the programs included are; homemaking, clothing St textil¬ es, foods and nutrition, family life and economics, home man¬ agement, housing and equip¬ ment, home furnishing and CoottaiMd OB balds Pat* Mrs. May Chesak, the Installing Musican, pins Virginia Mann of Woodstock for her work last year. On Sunday, August 6th, the 8 & 40 Unit of the Legion Auxiliary held their installation at the Huntley American Legion Home. The Installing team was led by Mrs. Elaine Murphy of Aurora with Mrs. Lee Powell of Wheaton as Installing Laconcircierge and May Chesak as Installing Musician. The Officers installed were: La Petit Chapeau - Mabel Schultz; Pouvior Member - Virginia Mann; Le Demi Petit Chapeau Premiere - Pearl Cooper; Le Demi Petit Chapeau Deux|eme • Agnes Wappler; La Petit SecreUire • Caissiere • LauretU Homo; L-Archiviste - lolene Biangardi and L'Aumonier - Arlene Mattingly. Refreshments were served following the intalling ceremony.
