HIGH SCHOOL GYM NAMED AFTER GLEN DELANEY
WHEREAS, GLEN DELANEY is completing his 24th year of service to Huntley Consolidated School District 158, and
WHEREAS. GLEN DELANEY has served as teacher, bus driver, grade school principal, coach and athletic director, and
WHEREAS, GLEN DELANEY has cheerfully and unselfishly given of his time and talents in service to youth, and
WHEREAS, GLEN DELANEY has demonstrat¬ ed tireless involvement in community activities, and
WHERAS, The Board of Education, as respresentatives ofthe school and community, wishes to recognize GLEN DELANEY FOR HIS DED ICA TED SER VICE.

The First National Bank of Marengo held its third annual' Shareholder's Meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 21st. The meeting was held at the bank at 102 N. State St., Marengo. |
During the meeting the shareholders were informed by the bank's Chairman of the Board, Mr. Herbert H. Franks, that the shareholder's equity increased in 1978 to $702,276.51 and return on shareholder equity was 6.5%. Deposits reached an all time high of $5,254,884.30 with total assets equalling $6,306,965.43. The bank enjoyed a loan to deposit ratio a year-end of 83% with loan reserves reaching $13,745.00. Commercial loans as a per cent of total loans were 9.9%, Real Estate loans $16.8% Installment loans were 56.7% while Personal loans were 16.6%. 1978 showed a net profit to the bank of $45,499.24. or $1.49 per share, with a return on average assets of .87%. Mr. Franks, also stated how pleased the 6oard of Directors was with thc continued positive response to the bank and its expanding service base by the local community. In addition he noted the Board's continued confidence in the bank's man¬ agement and staff.
Out of the banks total outstanding shares of 30,500, 22,5% were represented at the meeting, either by proxy or in person. The following indivi¬
duals were elected fo a Director¬ ship in the calendar year 1979: Charles Addis, Herbert H. Franks, Helen Lindow, Edward Mecum, Sr., Mlanden Mijan- ovich, Edward F. Mrkvicka, Jr.. James Powers, Mildred Ruth, Burton T. Wolf. Each Director has served in that capacity in the past except for Mrs. Ruth, who has been an Honorary Director for the past year. Mrs. Ruth is a long time resident of Huntley and the widow of the late Howard Ruth.
Following the Shareholders Meeting the shareholders were invited to the bank lobby for refreshments, while the newly elected Directors retired to the bank's Organizational Meeting. During that meeting Mr. Herbert H. Franks was again unanimously elected the bank's Chairman ofthe Board based on his record of outstanding devo¬ tion and past accomplishments on behalf of the bank. TTie Board voted to retain the services of Mr. Edward F. Mrkvicka, Jr., as President and Chief Executive Officer and Mr. Steven C. Bell as Cashier. The following Committee Chairman were also appointed; Invest¬ ment Committee: Burton T. Wolf. Personnel Committee; Jim Powers. Loan and Discount Committee: Edward Mecum, Sr. Executive Committee: Edward F. Mrkvicka, Jr. New Business Committee: Charles Addis. Building and Equipment Committee: Helen Lindow.
MABEL SCHULTZ SERVICE CHAIRMAN FOR AUXILIARY
Mabel Schultz, of Huntley, has been appointed State Community Service Chainnan for the American Legion Auxiliary for the administrative year 1978-79. Mrs. Schultz was appointed to this position by Maty Patterson, Lincoln, State President. Mrs. Schultz's eligibility is through the World' War II service of her husband, Robert. Mrs. Schultz states as the reason for her active involvement "I get satisfaction

from this organization that I am doing something to help others, as well as being greatful we are a Free Country for which our eligibilities fought". She has served the Huntley Unit as President 3 times, and just recently coniipleted a year as Second Division President (northem Illinois).
iDuring the month of March the 800 plus American Legion Auxiliary Units will be stressing Community Service. The goal of this program directed by Mrs. Schultz is to promote projects for the betterment of individual communities. These projects* often take the form of beautifi- Continued on Back Page
