HUNTLEY HARVESTORS AT HISTORICAL
MUSEUM
LEGION INSTALLATION JULY 31st

Last Sunday, July 18 the Huntley Harvestors demonstrated their skills at the McHenry County Historical Museum in Union at 2 p.m. Henry Marlowe introduced McHenry & Lake County Holstein Duchess Linda Borhart; McHenry County Dairy Princess Judy Borhart and his wife, Helen saying that Huntley has beautiful girls.
Lynetee Fettes, who will go to the State Fair with her recipe, demonstrated how to make her award winning Magic Tuna Pie. The recipe is as follows:
MAGIC TUNA PIE
1 can (6'/> Ozs.) tuna drained
1 cup shredded process sharp American Cheese
1 3 Oz. package Cream cheese, diced
v. cup sliced green onions
1 2 Oz. jar pimiento, drained
2 cups milk
1 cup Bisquick baking mix
4 Eggs
Vt teaspoon salt
Dash of nutmeg
Heat oven to 400 degrees. Crease pie plate, 10x1 'A inches. Mix tuna, cheeses, onions and pimiento in plate. Beat remaining ingredients until smooth, 15 seconds in blender on high or 1 minute with hand beater. Pout into plate. Bake until knife inserted between center and edge comes out clean, 35 to 40 minute. Cool 5 minutes. Garnish with diced tomatoe and green pepper.
Monica Fettes explained how to make a dish garden. She used a basket, a cut down coffee can, plants, moss and decorations to make a lovely plant setting.
Under Arts & Crafts, Sandy Wiesneth gave an interesting demonstration on the art of Tadding. Sandy showed Many of the lacy decorations which she made like bookmarkers, pins, doilies, etc. In years past lace collars were made by tadding.
Amy Meyer gave a delightful take on Heating with a Pot Bellied Stove. She told of how her father brought her grandfather's Pot
On Wednesday, July 28, Huntley Park District will be sponsoring a visit at Deicke Park with His Royal Highness, Garfield Goosel You will enjoy meeting the King of the United States and several of his friends at 2:00 in the afternoon. All ages are invited, there will be something for everyone! The fee for the visit is $1.00 each or $3.00 per family. For further information, call the park office at 669-3180. If it rains, the visit will be held in the Grade School gym.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL AUG. 9th
The children (age 3 - grade 4) of the community are invited to attend the First Congregational VBS for the week of August 9-13 (Mon.-fri.) 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The theme for Vacation Bible School this year is "God's People: Empowered by Love."
You may pre-register by calling or stopping by the church office (669-3691) 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This year there will be a small fee of $2.00 per child or $3.00 per family for materials. We will see you on the first day, August 9 at 9:00 a.m.!
PARK DISTRICT SUPERSTARS
On Friday. Julv 23,at 1:00, Huntley Park Uistrict will be sponsoring their owh version of th<^ "Super Stars", in Deicke Park! The events that will be held are; Frisbee Throw, Horseshoes, Softball Throw, Jump Roping, Basketball Free Throw & the ever popular Obstacle Course! Vou will compete with other people in you age group. The groups are for ages 6-8, 9-10. 11-12 & 13-14. Ribbons will be awarded to each category for first, second, & third places
Members of Huntley Post # 673 of the.Amencan Legion have elected Ronald Emricson to be Commander of the organization fer the 1982-83 program year. Other officers elected were:
Ed Hartman - Senior Vice Commander John Conley - Jr. Vice Commander
Don Enstrom - Adjutant
Robert Schachtner ¦ Finance Officer
Robert Schultz - Chaplain
Richard Enstrom - Sgt. at Arms
The new commander and all other officers will assume their respective duties at installation ceremonies on Saturday, July 31st, at the Post Home starting at 7:30 P.M.
Installing officer for the installation will be Robert Schultz, Past llth District Commander; Installing Sgt. At Arms, Joe Hellinski, McHenry County Council Commander and Installing Chaplain, Winston Baumann, Past llth District Commander.
This will be a joint installation with the Huntley Unit of the Auxiliary. Lunch will be served after the installation. The public is invited to attend.
CUB SCOUT FISHING DERBY
On Saturday, July 17, the Huntley Cub Scouts held their second summer activity. ApproximaUy 15 boys participated in a Fishing Derby at Deicke Park. Gary Harp and Mark Storms tied for the "Most Fish Caught" with three fish each. Jamie Sweeney caught the largest fish at 8Vi inch. A good time was had by all.
Final arrangements are being made fbr a bus trip to see the Chicago Cubs play New York on August 3. More information will be given to each Cub Scout next week.
