The show spanned a period of 26 years. Younger members of the gang would ask "Am I born yet in this one?". Mildred then, in turn, presented her gift; a hand-made quilt of their choice, for each daughter and for each grand¬ child. The quilts took her almost thirteen years to complete. No two were alike. Norm il Mildred have lived in McHenry County since 1937. Their oldest daughter, Sally Callahan, lives in Rockford. The second daughter. Sherry Lantis, was tragically killed in an auto accident in 1974. Third daughter, Suzanne Brown is pub¬ lisher of the Huntley Farmside. The youngest daughter. Melody Murphy, lives in Townbank, New Jersey. The couple received many cards, gifts, and letters from friends and family. Among the cards was a personal note of congratulations and best wishes sent by President and Mrs. Ronald Reagan. 1^ * From shore to shore they came; New Jersey to California and points in between. Children, grandchildren, great-grandchild¬ ren; each and every living descendent of Norman and Mildred LeGrand joined together Saturday evening to help them cele¬ brate their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Foiling an old-fashioned family picnic, the couple broke with tradition and reversed the usual gift-giving procedure. Norm, as his gift, presented a pictorial history to the Park District Minutes The regular meeting of the Huntley Park District was called to order on Wednesday, August 27, 1986 by President Tures at 8:00 p.m. Present were Commissioners Tures, Mercer and Jurs (Gurnett and Olson - absent, Attorney Cow¬ lin, Betsey Warrington, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kreutzer and Joanne Springman. Mr. Jurs made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 23 meeting, seconded by Mrs. Mercer. All Commission¬ ers voted aye and the motion carried. A motion to accept the Treasurers report was made by Mrs. Mercer, seconded by Mr. Jurs. All ayes and the motion carried. The bills for the month were presented. Mr. Jurs mov¬ ed to pay all bills, seconded by Mr. "Tures. All ayes and the motion carried. Mr. Jurs moved to approve the requests for reserva¬ tions, seconded by Mrs. Mer¬ cer. All ayes and the motion carried. The Annual Audit was stu¬ died. Mr. Tures made a motion to accept the audit, seconded by Mrs. Mercer. All ayes and the motion carried. The board held the public hearing concerning the pro¬ posed tax levy ordinance and the truth in taxation. Fol¬ lowing an open discussion, Mr. Jurs moved to accept the Tax Levy Ordinance, ^seconded by Mrs. Mercer. All ayes and the motion carried. Mr. Wirsing entered the meeting and the maintenance was discussed, including 01' Timers Park, flag pole and fitness trail. Mr. Wirsing left the meeting. Mrs. Warrington gave the recreation report, including soccer, porta-potty for 01' Timers Park, pre-school e- quipment from McHenry County College, radios, bike path, school volunteer program and fall programs. Mrs. Mercer moved for ad¬ journment, seconded by Mr. Tures. The meeting was ad¬ journed at 9:50 p.m. These minutes are subject to approval by the board at their next regular meeting. Lois Parisek Secretary Huntley Park District 4-H News The Huntley Harvestors new 4-H year is beginning. The first meeting of the year will be on Sept. 11, at 7:80 p.m. in the Congregational Church Social Hall. New mem¬ bers ages 8 to 19 are wel¬ come. Please join us. Notice You are hereby notified that the Regular September meeting of the McHenry County Board will be held to convene Tuesday the 16th day of Sep¬ tember, 1986, at the hour of nine o'clock a.m. at the Court House, 2200 N. Seminary Avenue (Route 47 North) in Woodstock.
