ANDREA MANNING NAMED VALEDICTORIAN
Pictured above is Andrea Mannmg named this ye Valedictorian. Andrea earned this honor by holding a 4.1 average for IS quarters. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Sdiool Newspaper and Volleyball Team. She appeared in "Oklahoma." Andrea is alao the recipient of the DAR Award, Scholar/Athlete, the Merit Scholarship, the Quill Sc Scroll Award and the HEA Scholarship.
CATHY ALLEN NAMED SALUTATORIAN
ictured above is Cathy AUen named this year's Salutatorian. Cathy is a member of the National Honor Sodety and JETS Team. She was in the musical production "Oklahoma." She has maintained a 3.9 average to receive this honor. Cattiy was also awarded the Brodersen Science Award. She worka at the Huntley Supermarket.
HUNTLEY DAY AT MUSEUM
This Sunday, May 22 has been designated in Huntley as Senur Citizen Day.
A special lunch will be served at the Senior Center on Thursday and the Jr. High Schoo Oiorus will perform for the Senurs. All Older americans are invited, (luncheon reserva¬ tions required)
Take a Senior to lundi or visit someone you know who is an "Older American" during the month of May.
BIKE REGISTRATION DAY
On Saturday, May 21, Huntley Park District along with the Huntley Pblice Department and Outdoor Recreation of
Woodstock, will be sponsoringra bicyde registration and safety clinic. The clinic will last bom 10:00 - 2:00 and wiU be held on a drop-in basis. During this time your bike will be registered with the Huntley Police Dept., saf^y demonstrations will be heid and bicyde repair will be demon¬ strated. You will receive
refleders for your bike and pamphlets about bicyde safety
and repair, the dinic will be held in Deicke Park.
BASEBALL NEWS
As of Sunday, May 15, Huntley Park Distrid received only enough registratfons for two teams of girls softball. In order to .have any kind of organized league play we need at least 3 teams. Nancy Fike, director ofthe McHenry County Hiatorical Muaeum, welcomed everyone to Huntley Day laat Snnday, May 15. Henry Marlowe took over as MC for the event. Henry announced that there was a spedal caae with memorabilia from Pat WUIiams who was also instrumental in the Museum. Wendell Weltzien sent oid poat card to be exhibited for the day.
The 1st Congregatfonal Church Haadbell Choir gave a preview of their excellent concert planned for that evening. Helen Marlowe direded the group thou^ aongs audi as "Donkey Seranade" and "Maple Uaf Rag." Debbie Woodruff did a clarinet aolo with tbe choir.
Henry Mariowe hitroduced Mayor Don Enstrom and Village Trustees Art Wicke. Jfan IXiamer aad Milford Brown and Village Qerk Mary Lou Hardy. Millie Ruth representing Grafton Townahip welcomed the group for her aon, Chariie.
Mr. Mariowe talked about the Huntley schools and their consolidatfon fai 1926. He stated that thc scfaools had a long reoord of excellent students. In 1961 ei^t Hnntley students made the Dean's List at the U of L
He went on to say that the 4-H Club was started fai 1926 and had a proud reoord. Henry faitroduced Amy Meyer, a 4-Her, who won the DAR Essay Contest for her essay "America I Love You." Mr. Marlowe said, "You're just not lucky ifyou don't live in Huntley."
4-H Leaders Rae Meyer and Rosemary Becker were introdoced. Three 4-H members gave faiteresting and informative talks. Lynette Fettes, s 4 year member, demonstrated the art of napidn folding. Jim Bird, a one year member, gave his talk on rocketry, showing the various stages of building and igniting a rocket. Brian Weseman, a one year member, demonstrat«l the art (tf maUng Know blockes from start to flnish.
Mr. Mariowe stated that Huntley had the best 4-H Club in the State of Ulinois. He complimented Mrs. Nancy Gran on the qnilt
