Planning Commission Holds Special Meeting However, no matter how hard we tried they refused to come out. The proposed units have made quhe a stir among neighbors fa the area although h is zoned for sfagle family, duplex and apartment housfag and has been since hs annexation. New residents fa the area said that they had checked wMh ^e realtors who sold them their land and with the zonfag map vMch showed the land to be zoned R-3 and now come to find the land is zoned R-4. IronicaUy R-3 is alao Multiple Housfag. Thirty spectators were fa attendMce at the special meetfag of the Plannfag Commission held Tuesday, September 3rd. The heated group, who are owners of neighboring homes fa the area were questionfag zonfag and legalities of annexation. The Plannfag Committee, made up of Huntley Citizens who's sole purpose is to uphold the ordfaances of the Village of Huntley and to plan for the growth and betterment of the community answered questions as calmly and plafaly as possible with the aid of the Village Attomey, Richard Szura. It was the concensus of the Board that their recommenda¬ tion would be to approve the unhs if all requirements were met and ordfaances complied with. Attomey Szura stated that if all the above requirements are met and the board tums the proposal down without good reason they would be settfag themselves up for a lawsuh. It was brought to tfae attention of the Board ^at the population of Huntley is 40 percent Senior Chizens and that the community fadeed does need additional housfag. The fact that the unfts would be privately owned and not Federally Funded would mean that they would not be tax exempt as is GreenTrees, thus bringing more tax dollars fato the school district. If fa fact, the unhs would house mostly older cithcens the fear of numerous new children to the area would be unfounded. The developers of the proposed project, Morgan & Dahlquist were not at the meetfag but had explafaed to this reporter that this is a private favestment even though h is through the Farmers Home Admfaistration. h is simply a mortgage loan and because of the lower finance rates the rents will be scaled to meet the average persons needs. Regular ffaandng would require higher rents to meet the mortgage. This loan does not favolve a subsidy or grant ftom the govemment. For more faformation about this project, tum to page 2. Pictured above are scenes ftom the special meetfag of the Plannfag Committee held on Tuesday, September 3rd. Thirty spectators were fa attendance at the meetfag questionfag zonfag, plat faformation, annexation, etc.
