1st CONGREGATIONAL ANNIVERSARY
A couple of weeks ago, Chris Frrand. age 8, saved the life of Gary Harp, age 4. The incident occurred at a large ditch at thie end at Church Street, which is about 8 fbet long and 4 feet wide.
Gary had been playing with some other childem. Apparently he jumped in the water thinking that it was only a small puddle. He dog paddled trying to stay afloat but couldn't stay up..
At this time, Joey Hill yelled to Chris Freund for help. Chris jumped in after Gary had gone down for the second time. He got Gary to put his arms around his waist and paddled to the side. The water was a good foot over Chris's head.
The boy's had to chmb up a straight dirt wall to get out. Several other children gave them a hand.
Chris is a 3rd grader at Huntley Elementary School. He has had one course in swimming at the YMCA. If it were not for his quick respnce Gary Harp surely would have drown.
The large ditch has been pumped out and men are woridng there hopefully filling it in..
