One of the JETS objectives is to encourage pre-coUege level students to ezcel in their studies and to emphasize coUege preparatory courses in mathematics, science and communication skills. Competition in the JETS was intense this year. The twelve schools involved each brought a team of 13. In Class A competition (schools with enrollment of 7S0 or less) three Huntley High School students achieved individual honors. Candidates, seniors and the public enjoyed' Continued on Page 2 VlEARINQ SP" FOR MONDAY, MARCH 1st Oo Monday, March 1st, a hearing will be held at the Geneva Courthouse, SJrd St. in Geneva, III. before Judge Krause at 10 a.m. in Room 110 to determine if Ordinance 80-37 is unconstitutioiial; if Kane County should pay the Plaintiff $4,000,000.00 and if 'The Landings" will be allowed to house a total of 276 airplanes. Currently "The Landings" is allowed to house 96 airplanes. There is also a subdivision near the airport. It is reported that many of the area residents bave made complaints of planes diving at houses, stalling their engines over homes and playing tag in Tiie sky over houses to the FAA. There have also been reports from Huntley residents of planes diving low over Huntley schools. According to Mr. William Reiken, Illinois Department of Aeronautics Director, the FAA changed the traffic pattem at the' Laiidings over a year ago so that planes are hot allowed to fly over the houses in that area. However many resident still report that planes have buzzed their homes and have only stopped within the last two weeks. Huntley's Village Board submitted a resolution against the installation of more planes and the Gilbert's Village Board has a Resolution pending. In the past couple of years, there have been ' several fatalities at "the Landings." 276 airplanes could fill most of the sky over Huntley. NOTICE Mary Lou Hardy, Chairman of the Hobo Show Ticket Commit¬ tee, is requesting that anyone having tickets that they can't use, please phone her at 669-5522 after 5 p.m. There is a waiting list for tickets. LEGION BIRTHDAY DINNER On March 20th the American Legion Post 673 will hold their Birthday dinner at the Home. Pins will be given to members for 5 years, 10 years, IS years, 25 years, 30 years and 55 years. RUMMAGE SALE The annual Rummage and Bake Sale will be held at the Congregational Church in Hunt¬ ley on Friday, March 12 from 9 am to 6 pm. Most of the clothing for children, men and women; household items and the special boutique items will be priced under Sl.OO. Saturday, March 13th from 9 am to 12 noon will be Sl a Bag day - all that can be put in a large grocery l>ag will cost Sl.OO. Coffee and snacks will l>e available.
