January 30th a Pot Luck Dinner will be held to honor Dr. Robert Frank at the social ball in the 1st Congregational Church.Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass and each his own table service. Rev. Dr. Frank has been pastor ofthe 1st Congregational Church in Huntley since September of 1966. Previously he was pastor of the Congregational Church in Atkinson. In 1970, he. earned his doctorate in Theology. Rev. Frank is a member of the Huntley Village Board. Rev. Dr. Frank recently was made Head of the Philosophy Department at McHenry County College. He said that he plans to devote his life to teaching and that he finds this career very rewarding. He said that he enjoys seeing his students grow and leam through open discussions and teaching. Rev. Dr. Frank plans to remain in Huntley. He said that he considers Huntley his home. CAR ACCIDENT ON RT. 47 Ed Hare, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Hare of 12704 Hensel Rd., .Huntley has been named the 1977 winner of the Sons of the American Revolution Award. After nominations were made by the Senior class, Ed was chosen winner by a vote of the high school faculty. The award is based upon qualities such as dependability, cooperation, leadership and patriotism. During Ed's high school years he was a member of the Nationsl Honor Society, Student Council President, ahd Gast officer hit junior year. Ed is planning to go to McHenry County College after he graduates. L. SCHACHTNER D.A.R. WINNER Luane Schachtner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Schachtner of Grove Street, Huntley, has been named the 1977 winner of the Daughters of the American Revolution Award. After nominations were made by the senior class, Luanne was chosen winner by a vote ofthe high school faculty. The awrad is based upon qualities such as dependability. Cooperation, leadership and patriotism. In the past years af Huntley High School Luanne has participated on the volleyball and track teams, is a cheerleader, and a member of the National Honor Society. She attended Girl's State this paat summer and has recently been chosen as an Dlinois State Scholar. Next fall she plans to attend Illinois Sute University and study the Physical Educationfield to hopefully become a teacher. On Sunday, January 23 at 11:22 an auto Occident occurred on Route 47 north of Fourth Street. The driver, Tammy J. Everett, 19, of Memphis, Tenn. reportedly was southbound on Rt. 47 when ber Volkswagon slid off the roadway on ice and soow and tunted sideways ^nto 47 swerving into the northbouid lane and strfldng a vehicle driven by Wayne H. Fanell, 59, of Manteon, BI. The car reportedly struck on the front aitd left aide of tbe second car from the windshiel dowm. Miss Everett Wis taken to Sherman Koapital with head and pelvis injuries. She reeehwd a tidMt fcr drhriag too fast for bad road conditions. The Police ofRce in chavge was Mr. Wickstrum. Miss Everett WAs tratisported to Shennaai Hospltsl by the Huntley Rescue Squad. SCHOOL BOARD MEETING MINUTES A continuation meetingf of 'the Board of Education of School District^ 158 was held in the High School Library on January 17, 1977 at 7:45 P.M. U)>on roll call the following answered present Mr. Ruth, Mr. Brettschneider, Mr. Richmond, Mr. Zirk, Dr. Grau and Mrs. Livingston. Mr. Stading was absent. Mrs. Livingston was appointed secretary pro-tem. A motion was made by Mrs. Livingston and 2nd by Mr. Zirk to seat Mr. Richmond and Dr. Grau on the traard. Motion carried 4 yeas and 0 nays. Mr Chet Knight f^um the IlUnois School Consulting Service discussed with the board mem¬ bers the financial problems of District #158 aod how their serv¬ ices could be utilized. A motion was made by Dr. Grau and 2nd by Mr. Ruth, to conduct a Survey reguarding thej public feelings on our financial t problems. Motion carried 6 ^eas' and 0 nays. A motion' was made by Dr. Grau and 2nd by Mr. Ruth to place the question of a tax referendum on the March School Bosrd Agenda. Motion carried 6 yeas and 0 nays. A motion was made by Mr. Brettschneider and 2nd by Mr. Ruth to discontinue the combina¬ tion 1st and 2nd grade position at the end of the 1976-77 school year. Motion carried 6 yeas and 0 nays. It was moved by Mr. Zirk and 2nd by Dr. Grau to notify Mary Helen Lidinsky of the termination of her position at the end of the 1976-77 school year. Motion carried 6 yeas and 0 nays. A motion was made by Dr. Grau and 2nd by Mr. Zirk to change the March 25, 1977, Inservice day work topic as was presented. Motion carried 6 yeas and 0 nays. The board went into executive session at lOrSO to discuss per- sonel evaluations. The board came out of executive session at 11:30P.M. Mr. Brettschneider moved we adjourn. The meeting adjourned at 11:30 P.M.
