News
Senior Citizens Club met Thursday, Jan. 28 at Fellowship Hall of the First Congressional Church.  After potluck. Vice President, Doris Ball called the meeting to order and led in the pledge of allegiance.  Before the meeting opened for business, Dave Veath, Fire Chief, gave a talk on frost bite and hypothermia.  He talked of the symptoms and the need for immediate treatment to prevent severe damage.  Temperatures in homes should not be lower than 70 degrees and layers of clothes should be worn.
The meeting then opened with roll call, and minutes were read and approved. Treasurer Knaak gave her report which was accepted. The birthday song was sung. Committee members for February are Evelyn Benning, Edna Schutz and Irene Yurs.
Louise Kruetzer took reservations for the Ice Capades on March 25. Lunch and the show are included.
Third grade students invited everyone to the Abraham Lincoln play on Feb. 11 at the grade school gym at 9 a.m.
The meeting then adjourned and bingo was played.

Historical  Society  Keeping Warm
Picture shows quilters working on the hand stitched quilts made by museum volunteers.
Activities continue throughout the winter at the McHenry County Historical Society Museum in Union with programs designed to appeal to a variety of interests.
For one thing, quilters have been gathering to work on the hand stitched quilts that the Society raffles off each year.  Meeting in the music room of the museum during January and February, the quilters come from all over the county to volunteer their time and talent to the making of these lovely

Students who have achieved superior academic status for the 2nd quarter of the current school year were announced recently at Huntley Jr. High.  To be named to the Principal's List a student must attain a 3.9 average or above.  High Honors recognition requires an average between 3.5 and 3.89 and Honorable Mention listing denotes an average between 3.0 and 3.49. 6th Grade

. traditional quilt pattern   • pieces. Both experienced and those wishing to learn how to quilt are invited to the quilting bees which will be held again on Wednesdays, February 10th and the 24th from 9:30 to 3:30.  Those wishing to participate should bring a sack lunch.
The winter season is also the time when the Society runs its "Sampler Series", a lecture program.  Each Monday night, for 8 weeks, speakers are invited in to talk on historical topics ranging
from architecture and antiques to local history. The classes run from 7:30 to 9:00, March 7th through April 25th. Attendance at the popular series is limited to 45. An admission fee of $25.00 is charged ($20.00 for Society members) and $6.00 for individual sessions. Registration is being taken now. For further information on either the quilting or the lecture series, please contact the museum at 815-923-2267.
Huntley  Park Board   Minutes
The regular meeting of the Huntley Park District was called to otder at 8 p.m. on January 27, 1988, at the park office.  Present were Commissioners, Mercer, Gurnett, Knott while Olson and Woodcock were absent. Also in attendance were Attorney Cowlin, Mrs. Warrington, Mr. Wirsing and Kent Anderson.
A motion to approve the minutes of the December 23rd meeting was made by Mr. Gurnett, Seconded by Mrs. Mercer. All ayes and the motion carried.
Mr. Knott moved to accept the Treasurer's report with second by Mr. Gumett.  All ayes and the motion carried. -
The bills for the month
were presented.  Mr. Gurnett made a motion to pay all bills, seconded by Mr. Knott.  All ayes and the motion carried.
Corhmissioner Woodcock entered the meeting.
Kent Anderson, representing Unteed Scaggs Nelson Ltd. talked with the board concerning building addition, parking and other future plans. Then he left the meeting.
Earl Maynard entered the meeting and made a donation of a burning bush by the playground in memory of Jessica Maynard.  The board thanked him and will set plaque when weather permits.
