Frank began his barber apprenticeship in Chicago at 222 VanBuren for three years, moved to the LaSalle Hotel where he was for five years, and then on to the Harlem Irving Plaza, where he remained for 4 years until the owner sold the shop and retire. He then moved to the Exchange National Bank buUding until early January of 84, when he and his wife moved to this region. Frank does styling as well as regular cuts, and will be keeping regular hours at the shop. He is also happy to say that Qarence will still be there every Monday. The hours will be; Mon. thru Fri. 9 to S and Sat. 8 to 4. School Board Mlnates The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #158, Hunttey Consoli¬ dated Schools, Huntley, Illinois was held in the High School building on Tuesday, January 17, 1984 at 7:30 pm. In the absence of the President, the meeting was called to order by Board appointed Secretary Pro-(em, Mrs. Basel, in the absence of Mr. Zirk at 7:37 pm. Upon roll call the following members answered present: Mrs. Schadt, Mr. Freeberg. Mr. Heavey, and Mrs. Basel. Absent: Mr. O'Brien, Mr. Pupich and Mr. Zirk. All present joined in the Pledge to the Flag. 1. Mrs. Schadt nominated Mr. Heavey President Pro-tem, Mr. Freeberg 2nd the motion. Nominations closed. 4 yeas - 0 nays. Motion carried. 2. Mr. Freeberg moved Mr. Heavey 2nd to approve the minutes of the E^ecember 8 regular meeting. 4 yeas - 0 nays. Motion carried. 3. Mrs Schadt naoved Mrs. Basel 2nd to approve payment of the monthly agenda of bills: Education $12,600.96 - BuUding $17,040.83 - Transportation $4,750.59 and to reimburse Imprest Fund the sum of S854.5S for total expenditures. Yeas: Schadt, Basel, Freeberg, and Heavey. Nays: None. 4 yeas - 0 nays. Motion carried. 4. The President gave opportun¬ ity for visitors to address the Board, Mrs. Heavey on behalf of the PTO asked that the Board table item 7B, Shirley Williams request for either a '/j time media position or a 3rd year LOA, until a survey had been completed on the library. Mrs. Heavey also asked, that in view of the fact that the budget and budget cuts will be addressed soon by the Board, a better form of communications between the Board and the Community be found. 5. Mrs. Schadt moved Mr. Freeberg 2nd to go into executive session at 8:12 pm. 4 yeas - 0 nays. Motion carried. OmtMeeiemretiaS Lion's Steak Fry Jan. 28 The Huntley Lions Steak Fry will be held at the American Legion Home, January 28th. There are stUI tickets avaUable for the dinner. They can be purchased Irom most any Lion's member or by calling Don Tessmer at 669-5591; Herb Thurow at 669-3253 or Chuch Dammyer at 669-3191. No Tickets wUI be sold at the door. Advance sales only. The dinner tickets are $6.50 and dinners will be served from 5 pm to 8 pm. Carry-outs are avaUable. Joe Eisele Speaks On Burglaries On January 10 h., .. the Huntley Lioness were guesU of the Huntley Lidia Oub for a Prime Rib dinner aad a fiin fiUedevealqf. After dinner, Deputy Sheriff Hobo's Are Coming!!! "The Hobos are coming March 2nd and 3rd, To miss would be a shame. But don't look by the railroad tracks. Because they will be down Memory Lane." Joe Eisele spoke on Burglaries and how to ptevent them. The talk was very Infionnative and stressed "keepiag your doors locked, as not tp make entry easy" Cor the hm^ar. OfBcer Eisele conducted a question and answer session. He wss a very enjoyable speaker. Officer Eisele WM tlM guest of Lion Ed Schweiffet. Handbell Brunch Held Sanday " Last Sunday, the HandbeU Choir of the First Congregation¬ al Church held a Brunch. This is the second brunch the HandbeU Choir has held. 152 people were served in comparison to 194 at the last brunch. As the brundi was held on SuperBowl Sunday, the dedfaie in attendance was attributed to Free FootbaU dinners, etc. The proceeds from the brundi wUI be used for financing the tripof the Choir to the HandbeU Festival, in Iowa, in June. Oldtimers VS Faculty Game Ends In Tie That's right, the basketball game between the Oldtimers and the Faculty last Friday night ended in a 42-42 tie. If you missed it you missed a good time. The Fund-rkising Game netted about $450 to go toward the purchase of new Football Uniforms for the Huntley Redskins. Dispite the 15 below weather, there was a terrific turnout. Playing Coach Larry Kahl, from the Faculty Team introduced the Oldtimers, and Non-Playing Coach Dick Erath, from the Oldtimers, the Faculty Team. The evening was ezcitiag. as the score was close aU through the game, and the antics of the players made it even more enjoyable. Leading scoters from the Faculty team were Larry Kahl and Steve Madejewdd; from the Oldtimers, Gary Keesling and Raymond Cole. The game was an ezeepticMiany tight one even - though the Faculty team had seven basketball coaches on it. During half-time there was a Free Throw Contest for the women in the audience. Cindy Kahl and Robin Brunsdion tied and had to play it ott. Cindy came out on top with 5 Free Throws in a row. WOW! That makes you wonder. Who coadiesWho! Note of Interest: Voted <» by several wmnen in the audience; Jfan Skomer and Steve Made¬ jewski had the best looUn legs on the Faculty Team and Barry Borchart and Gary Keesling tied from the Oldtimers. However, several Faculty Team membet* had their legs in sweat pants.
