Lioness Chesak led in the pledge and in song honoring Lioness of the Year, Marie Fettes. Minutes and Treasurers reports were presented and approved with corrections. Standing Rules were presented and approved with changes, to be presented at the October meeting for vote. Caramel Corn pins were presented by Lioness Kohiey. Lioness Fettes reported that three College scholar¬ ships were presented. Beth Hartmann, Lynette Fettes and Julie Domagalski were recipients. Lioness Borhart presented By-Laws. It was moved to approve after corrections. Bingo Party will be held in September on regular meeting night. Our Girl Staters will be at the Legion Auxiliary Meeting September 10th. All Lioness are invited to hear their report on the state program. The next meeting - bingo dinner will be September 16th. The next meeting at the Legion is October 21st. Blood Drive Results The Aurora Area Blood Drive held in Huntley on Tuesday, August 18, resulted in 46 units of blood with 3 would be donors who were referrals (rejected for various health reasons.) Your Chairman, May Chesak, wishes to thank these generous donors, would be donors, and the many, many people who helped in so many different ways to make this Blood Drive a success. Without your help, I could no longer be Chairman. God bless each and everyone of you. Huntley placed 2nd in the Dairy School Exhibit and received a trophy donated by Dean Foods. Todd Manke won the dairy showmanship trophy. Amy Meyer won Dairy Champion Colored Breed Female with her purebred 3 yr. old Jersey Cow. Heidi Berghorn took Reserve Champion Female with her Purebred Holstein Cow. The following members of the Huntley Chapter placed: , TODD MANKE - DAIRY Purebred Holstein Jr. Yr. Heifer Sth. P.B. Hoi. 2 yr. old cow in production 3nd. Continued on page 10 Huntlev Park District Basketball Camp Huntley Park District held it's second annual Girl's Basketball Camp at Huntley High School with much success, which is contributed to its head coach, Larry Kahl and assistants, Paul Gillette & Tami Trulock. There were two sessions of camp this year, one for high school students which was July 20-24 and one for Jr. High and Grade School, August 10-14. Adam Stark ic Michelle Lovins watch as Brad & Kimberly Stark ic Ryan Ketchum get ready to roll at Huntley Park District's Big Wheel Race on August 7th. Participants of Huntley Park District's Girl's Basketball Camp work on warm-ups and drills. Contributions to the camp were given by Mona's Restaurant, Huntley Family Restaurant, Huntley Dairy Mart, Jan's Pizza, Huntley Pharmacy, Pinecrest Golf ic Country Club, D & Z Transfer, Bakley Construction, Huntley Material ic Handling, Refinishings Unlimited, J.H. Patterson, B&B Service, State Bank of Huntley, McHenry F.S., McHenry Savings Bank, Bruce Ferguson, Insurance Agent, Bill's Village Inn; Dean Foods and Keebler via Barb Wulf. All participants were rewarded points for various contests held throughout the camp. Everyone received a prize which was purchased with cash contributions from these businesses with the person receiving the most prizes Continued on page 4 Regular Meeting Board of Education The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #158, Huntley Conso¬ lidated Schools, Huntley, Illinois was held in the High School building August 13, 1987 at 7:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by the President at 7:32 p.m. Upon roll call the following members answered present: Mrs. McDonald, Mr. Heavey, Mr. Greve, Mr. Bauman, Absent: Mrs. Schadt, Mr. Freeberg, Mr. Miller. AU present joined in the pledge to the flag. 1. Mr. Greve moved, Mrs. McDonald 2nd to approve the minutes of the July 30 regular meeting as written. 4 yeas - 0 nays Motion carried. Mr. Freeberg entered the meeting at 7:34 p.m 2. Mr. Greve moved, Mr. Heavey 2nd to adopt the budget for Fiscal 88. Yeas: Greve, Heavey, McDonald, Feeberg, Bauman Nays: None 5 yeas - 0 nays Motion carried. 3. Mr. Bauman moved, Mr. Greve 2nd to approve the Certificate of Tax Levy for 1987. 6 yeas - 0 nays Motion carried. 4. Mr. Bauman moved, Mrs.. McDonald 2nd to approve the inservice program for 1987/88. 6 yeas - 0 nays Motion carried. 5. Mr. Miller moved, Mr. Greve 2nd to approve the following employment of personnel: Eugene Goeglein, High School Principal - effective August 17, 1987. Douglas Schuler, Band Director - effective August 27, 1987. Edward Strauel, Custodian GSB - effective August 7, 1987. Yeas: Miller, Greve, McDonald, Freeberg, Bauman Nays: None 6 yeas - 0 nays Motion carried. 6. Mr. Freeberg moved, Mr. Heavey 2nd to approve the resolution to participate in the fixed-rate certificate of deposit investment service option of the Illinois School District liquid asset fund plus.
