A busy agenda faced the Grafton Board of Trustees on Thursday night at the regular monthly meeting. Following the regular business procedures. Road Commissioner Tessmer gave his report. There was 12.5" of snow and 1.6" of rain fbr the month of Mardi. Pre-Spring grading, late weath¬ er snow plowing and sanding of icy roads as well as black top patching was done during the month. Bid letting is oomfrtete and low bid for the 4.5 miles of matt overlay went to Geiske St Sons. Roads to be done, in part, are Union Rd., S. Lakevlew, Pauline, Delia, Teresa, Arthur, Martin, John, Haligas, Bard and Albrecht. Woit should be done by the middle of August.
Assessor Brunsdion reported on Township Officials meetings she had and will attend. She explained bills that would drastically affect the assessed value in Grafton Township. The Assessor urged the board to contact their legislators in support of the bills that would be in favor of keeping assessed values intact, espedaUy those that would errode the tax base of the school districts.
At 8 pm the regular meeting was temporarily adjoumed to hear requests for Revenue Sharing Funds. Requests were presented from 17 groups. Mr. Ruth. Supervisor, informed those present that this was only a hearing and that no decisions would be made at this meeting. June 14th will be the date for approval of the Revenue Shar¬ ing and Town Budgets.
The regular meeting resumed at 8:40 pm. The board voted to retain the same law Arm and accounting firm for the upcom¬ ing year, llie meeting dates wiU also remain the same • at 7:30 pm on the second Thuraday of the month at the Grafton Township office building. The Supervisor then gave his report and further discussion waa held on bills being considered by the legislators that would affed the business of the Township.

In the under 8 division, the Hnntley Bea^es beat Harvard 13 • 01 In the under 10 divirioo, the Hontley Chargers beat Mareago 1 • 0 and the Huntley Gophet Goals beat Harvard 9 - 0. In the under 12 divirion. the two Huntley teams played eadi other b a very well nuttdied game wtth the final score heibig 1 - 0 widi team #2 beadng team #3 (theae teams have not diosen a name yet!)

The Huntley Lioness Club wilt give away carmel com and accept donations on Friday, May 4th and Saturday May 5th to raise funds to benefit the blind, visually impaired, deaf, and hearing impaiivd.
"Our campaign will not only benefit those «^ are blind or deaf, but also will help support services to prevent blindness ahd deafoess and to restore sight and hearing", said Betty Ahrens, Carmel Cbrn Day chairman.
Announcement of the fund¬ raiser was made by the chairman and by Bev Hutman, dub president. Other leaders of the campaign hidude Dorothy SchaUer, B^ Mattfaigly, Gwen Jensen and GiiU Wasserstrass.
The women are seeking businesses and individuals wiU¬ ing to underwrhe the cost of the carmd com ao that "more money wUI be avaUable for direct programs for the blind and deaf," the president said.
Funds raised during Carmel Com Day are used locaUy for vision and hearing services and statewide for a variety of sight and hearing related programs, including Camp Lions for vision and hearing impaired chUdren, an Eye Donor Registry to supply corneal tissue for si^t-restor- ing eye surgery. Used Eye^ass- es Colledions. a Used Hearing Aid Bank, mobUe heakh screen¬ ings, and other projeds. State¬ wide programs ftmded partiaUy by Caramel Com Day Proceeds are administered by the Uons of niinois Foundations, 7321 W. Lake St., River Forest, the charitable arm of the state's Lions Gubs.
