FATHER DAY TO RETIRE AS PASTOR OF ST. MARY'S
HUNTLEY COLOR GUARD
Last Sunday, January 20, Father L.D. Day, Pastor of St. Mary's! Catholic Church, announced his retirement as pastor effective' Februray 15. Father Day came to Huntley in 1938. In June of 1977, he celebrated his Golden Jubilee as a priest with a special day. It started with a Mass at which he was presented with a papal blessing Later that day, a special program and luncheon was held in his honor. Not only did his parishioners attend but Rev. Frederick Harm from Trinity Lutheran Church. Rev. Roger Mealiff from the 1st Congregational Church and many Huntley resident. It was brought out at that ceremony that Father Day's greatest contribution to Huntley was his belief that all people of every faith should work together.
Father Day will be celebrating his last Mass as Pastor of St. Mary's Church on February 10th. Father will by 78 years old on March Sth. He plans to stay in Huntley after his retirement. A new pastor has not been named at this time.

HAMSHIRE
In the Redskin Varsity'a lecond amfBreiioe game after bead Mooseheart 91-49, they played Hampshire In an exciting, well fought competition. The Redskins tied the game 60-60 with seconds left on the clock and went into a 3 minute overtime losing by only 4 pts. The starting lineup for the Skins were Joe Gow, Dave Schachtner, Jim Goehl, Joe Zorica and Adam Brunschon.
Hampshire started off the game with a 2-0 lead. Goehl stole and Zorica tied up the game. Rieser added 2 to the Hampshire score. Zorica tied it up again. Hampshire added another 3. Goehl stole and Schachtner added 2 to tie. Goehl took the lead for Huntley on a long shot. In the next plays, Hampshire added 6 pts. Neperman made 2 but Hampshire moved ahead to 18-10. Neperman again scored. Goehl moved the score to 22-16. Zorica added 2 while Anders added

Thanks to a generous donation from the C.A.C. and the expert sewing of Mrs. Betty Brachman, the Huntley Color Guard appeared in their new uniforms at the Jan. 5 basketball game. The Guard wall present the Colors at the fmai two home basketball games on Feb. 1 and 15. Later in the year, they will appear at Crown High school to present a demonstration to the Huntley Jr. High students and perform in the Huntley Memorial Day parade and the Harvard Milk Day Parade. The Color Guard along with its sponsors and instructors would like to thank the C.A.C. and Mrs. Brachman for their new uniforms.

On Sunday, January 27 a family night at the movies will be held at 7 p.m. sponsored by the Teen Bible Qass of Trinity Lutheran Church, he film is entitled "Without Onion."
Everyone in the community is welcome. A free will offering will be taken to help pay for the film. There will be free popcom and cool aid.
PARK DISTRICT
GYMNASTIC
PROQRAM
The Huntley Park District will be continuing the gymnastic program beginning Saturday, January 25. New groups are being added so that all grades from kindergarten to eighth grade will be included. The new routines will include tumbling, the balance beam, uneven bard, vaulting horse, floor exercises and ballet. The sessions will now be held in the balcony at the HIGH SCHOOL. Please enter and exit at the lobby doors by the gymnasium at the very back of Uie building. The new groups will be as follows:
