Keep the Wreath Red
For the fourth year in a row the Huntley Fire Protection District has set up a campaign to alert residents about fires caused by holiday decorations. The project is called "K.eep The Wreath Red".
Once again a large wreath has been put up in the window of Huntley Fire Station #1. The red lights around the wreath will be constantly lit. Ii there is a fire in our district caused direct¬ ly by holiday decorations a bulb on the wreath will be changed to white.
During the last three years the lights on the wreath nave remained red throughout the holiday season. Please continue to be fire safety minded again this year and "Keep The Wreath Red".

Huntley Area Jaycees
The purpose of this newsletter is to inform you of the changes and activites taking place in our chapter. It has been about 2 1/2 years, since newsletters have been sent out. The officers would appreciate hearing your opinion of it.
During the month of Oct. we added 10 new members to our roster. These new members are: Brian Fettes, Brian Gerloff, Jon Holle, Scott Jensen, Tom Kohiey, Craig Miller, Steve Nevel, D. Scott O'Brien, Crystal Sheehan, Kathy Sheehan. New members in Nov. are Gary Schultze, and "Wally" Flint. WELCOME NEW MEM¬ BERS! At our last meeting several new members were inducted and received ori¬ entation on the Jay¬ cees. We hope the rest will be able to make it to our next meeting. The chapter also decided to send 2 children to Camp New Hope. Camp New Hope is a summer camp for mentally and/or phys¬ ically handicapped children. If you know of anyone in the area who would be interested in this, please call Rick, ^69-5957. The project has been a favorite one of the chapter. Attendance drawing contains 21 dollars. MEETING WED. Senior Citizens
News
Senior Citizens met Nov. 20 for the monthly pot-luck at the Congre¬ gational Church Social Hall. President Ahrens called the meeting to order, the pledge to the flag was given, roll was taken and minutes were read and approved. Since the Treasurer was absent, no report was given.
A sign up sheet for the Senior Christmas dinner Dec. 4th at the Legion was sent around. A get well card for John Sherf ield, a patient at Sherman Hospital, was signed by all. A new member, Edna Harting, joined the club. The club will meet Dec. 18th for a Christmas pot luck, meat provided by the club. Members in charge are Louise Kruetzer, Doris Ball and Nancy Grimes. There will be special entertainment.
Thank yous from Genevieve Meyers, Kate Boncosky and Marge Eggers were read for memorials for members of their families who passed away recently.
Herb Eggers, nominating committee chairman, gave his report as follows: Fred Ahrens and Alice Rendl for President, Doris Ball, Vice-President, Vera Swanson, Secre¬ tary, Ed Schweiger and Viola Knaak, Trea¬ surer. There being no nominations from the floor. Norma Garlieb moved nominations be closed, seconded by May Chesak. Motion carried.

Bigger is   Not Always   Better
There is a strong movement in II. toward consolidating small school districts into larger districts.
But smaller may be better after all, ac¬ cording to a University of Illinois-Chicago professor who conducted a study of 500 school districts in New Jersey. "It's what the school district does, rather than its size, that makes a difference in how children learn," Herbert J. Walberg told an audience of school board members and administrators Sunday (Nov. 23) in Chicago.
The session was one of 65 discussions on a wide range of topics offered at the Joint Annual Conferene of the Illinois Assoc, of School Boards, Illinois Assoc, of School Administrators, and Illinois Assoc, of School Business Offi¬ cials.

Planning Commission
A meeting of the Huntley Planning Commission was called to order at 7:35 p.m. by Chairman Wilmer Rohlwing. Those members of the board present were Noel Hansmann, Ron Hahn, Tom Jurs and Jack Daum.
The minutes of the meeting of September 8, 1986, were read. Mr. Jurs moved to accept the minutes as read. Mr. Hahn seconded. Motion carried.
The minutes of the meeting of September 22, 1986, were read. Chairman Rohlwing added that the drainage plans for the Outlook Envelope building were obtained. Bakley will get a copy of the future plans of roads, etc. in that area to the Planning Commission for the rest of that property to Ruth Road. He read a letter from the Village Engineer stating his approval for Outlook and that Items 2 and 3 had been met. A copy of such letter is attached to these minutes as Exhibit A. Mr. Hahn then moved to approve the minutes of the Special Meeting of September 22. Mr. Hansmann seconded. Motion carried.

4-H   Key Awards
The Illinois 4-H Key Award is given by the Illinois 4-H Foundation to 4-H members who have been involved in 4-H more than three years, scored 90 points on their Illinois 4-H Member Record and written a story about their 4-H life. known that Outlook Envelope had property to Kiley they would have asked them to put in a fire lane. The Chief will ask them to do so when Kiley Drive is put through. Apparently Outlook has an option on the back piece of land that would , adjoin Kiley. Delores Fox lives on the corner of Grove and Main and is present at this meeting requesting a change in zoning to R-3. She has a corner lot which is 132 x 124.5 and 69 x 113.10. Her frontage is 69 feet on Grove. They would eventually like to convert their home to a two-family dwelling. The vacant lot behind them is still owned by Weltzien." Upon reviewing, the board finds that there is plenty of square footage, 11>00, but the frontage for an R-3 is supposed to be 70 feet. Her garage is big enough for 3 vehicles. She is requesting a change from R-2 to R-3. She has three lower entrances and could make a fourth. According to the Ordinances she meets all necessary requirements found on page 45.
Mr. Daum moved that the Huntley Planning Commission recommend to the Huntley Zoning Board the approval of the request by Mr. and Mrs. James Fox concerning their property on the
corner of Grove and Main Streets, from R-2 to R-3, with a variance for the lot width of 69 feet, Mr. Hansmann seconded. Upon roll call there were five (5) ayes and no (0) nays. Motion carried.
Chairman Rohlwing then brought up the subject of a recent newspaper article which stated a need for change in some ordinances and that new developers of five acres or more would have to meet with the School Board and Park Board and then Planning Commission and Zoning Board before getting approval from Village Board. The Planning Commission felt this would discourage hopeful developers and that there are sufficient ordinances to cover the needs of the School Board and Park District.
The next meeting is scheduled for December 8, 1986.
Mr. Hahn moved to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Hansmann seconded. Motion carried, meeting adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
