"Root" Beer & Pretzel Concert
The "Root" Beer it Pretiel"
Concert will be presented by
the music department on
Monday night, February 26, at
7:30 pm in the Grade School
Gym. Admission is $1.00 per
person. Seating is at tables
loaded with root beer and
pretsels to enjoy during the
concert. A varied program is
planned, with a special guest
appearance by the 5th grade
beginning band. Musical
selections include: Jr. High
Band playing pieces from
their March contest entries;
High School Band playing a
Beach Boys medley; Jr. High
Chorus singing old & new
tunes and High School Chorus
performing selection of "Lee
Miserables" and 60's medley.
All performers are under the
direction of Doug Schuler and
Ann Tirk of the Huntley Music
Department.
Planning Commission Minutes
The regular monthly meeting of the Huntley Planning Commission was called to order at 7:30pm by Chairman Wilmer Rohlwing on February 12, 1990. Those members of the board present were Robert Schachtner, Ed Domagalski, Jack Daum, Paul Mercer, Ron Hahn and Darick Franzen. Also present was Mayor Dhamer.
The minutes of the January 18, 1990 meeting were read. ~ Mr. Mercer stated that there wets no statement in minutes about Mr. Ludwig having spoke at that meeting. Minutes should show that Mr. Ludwig explained that he thought this area, that being Huntley Road, was wrong for manufacturing and that he said the future development along Huntley Road from Randall Road to Huntley would be residential. Mr. Mercer then moved to accept minutes as fiorrectdd. Mr. Hahn seconded. Motion carried. The agenda was read.

The first order of business was presented by Walter Madgsiarez, Land Planner for George Bernat. They are presenting Final Plans for Phase II of Bernat Industrial Park. EngineeriHg plans were reviewed at time of final plan. Letter from Baxter ii Woodman dated February 12, 1990 was read, stating their approval.
Mr. Fransen asked about surfacing of Kreutser Road. The Mayor said that right now there is a contractual road between Bernat and Rutland Township. Mr. Bernat said he has agreement that all lots along Kreutzer Road cannot be built on until Kreutser Road is improved. He has an agreement that Rutland Township will maintain until Village has approved.
Mr. Hahn moved to accept the plans as presented by George Bernat for Bernat Industrial Park Phase II. Mr. Franien seconded. Upon roll call there were seven (7) ayes and no (0) nays, motion carried.
The next order of business was presented by Attorney
John Horeled, representing Norm Zimmerman. They are seeking Final Plan approval for six lot subdivision along Algonquin Road. Letter of January 9, 1990, from Baxter it Woodman was read stating their approval. Discussion over easement was held and that Zimmerman owns part of the road, however, it is all in the Village limits.
Mr. Daum moved to accept plans as presented for Zimmerman's Subdivision Final Plans. Mr. Domagalski seconded. Upon roll call there were seven (7) ayes and no (0) nays, motion carried.
The next order of business was presented by Nancy Braun of the McHenry County Housing Authority. She presented plans for Phase II of Greentrees. She had presented these plans before, but it had been a few years and wanted to keep Commission up to date. They still have their funding from the Farmers Home Administratidn

Scouts Make Helping Easy
Huntley Boy Scouts are making helping to feed the hungry easier. The weekend of Feb. 24 it 25 the Huntley scouts will pass out bags, or hang them on doorknobs, throughout Huntley. Citizens are encouraged to put non- perishable food items in them and hang them out again the following weekend. The scouts of Blackhawk Area Council will pick up the bags Sat., March 3. The scouts plan to transport the food items to the Grafton Township Garage to weigh, sort and shelve them for the food pantry. All food will stay in the Huntley area.

5th Grade Wildlife Assembly

On Friday, Feb. 16, the fifth grade "Outbackers" set up a show in the Huntley Elementary School Gym. Everyone paid SO-cents to watch a play, two rap groups, a movie on wildlife, and free popcorn. "We made over a thousand dollars doing this since fifth grade started this in 1978," said Hanns Von Bosse. "It's for a good cause, too," he said. "The most important thing is we had fun while doing it," he added.
All the money went to the "International Fund For Wildlife", the organization that spearheaded signing the treaty to stop clubbing of baby harp seals.
