Accepting the apples for the high school teachers was Dr. Robert Bunt. Superintendent, in the top picture. Mrs. Gloria Christensen is shown below with Mrs. Chesak. Mrs. Christensen is a 5th Grade Teachers. The apples wore a gift from the Huntley Auxiliary to the teachers to say thank you for a job well done. UONSCLUBNEWS The regular meeting of the Huntley Lions Club was called to order on November 9, 1982 with 39 members and one guest present. Singing was lead by Lion Tom Crane with May Chesak tickling the ivories. Doug Borhart lead in the Pledge of Allegiance and Pastor Borhart delivered the invoca¬ tion. President Thurow intro¬ duced Deputy District Govemor Dick Price. Secretary Chuck Sass read thc minutes of the last meeting and were approved on a motion by Lion Bud and seconded by Lion Swanie. Lion Fd Hartman reported that receipts were down about $200.00 from last years Pancake Breakfast due to the economy. Lion Bud Weber reported how it came fo pass that he now wears glasses. Christmas Party Chairman Lee Hennig reported the Xmas parfy will be $10.00 per person and letters will be ouf as soon as the corn is picked. District Deputy Govemor Price inducted Lion Gordie Schultz into membership of the Huntley Lions. Dick Price spoke about membership in the Fox River Region and we had a good membership month in October. A Hearing Dog Program (in Milwaukee) is just getting started. It is only applicable to deaf people living alone. District Deputy Governor Price will coordinate it if needed. There will be a Zone Meeting Monday. November 22 at John Evans. Approximately 10 mem¬ bers will be attending. Lion Charlie Lamb reported about the 7 year old boy with cancer who flies to Memphis every other weekend. A Spaghetti supper is being planned for sometime in .lanuary and all proceeds will be donated to help defray all expenses incurred. RENDEZVOUS AT THE BAUET Huntley Park is sponsoring a special Thanksgiving Holiday treat the wh<rie family can enjoyi A spedal day at the ballet, joined by othe rDlinois Park Districts. We will be attending the Chicago City Ballet's performance of Cinder¬ ella at the Auditorium Theatre on Saturday, November 27. The bus will be leaving Deicke Park at 12:30 p.m. Performance time is 2:00. Approximate time of retum is 5:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the Park OfRce for a fee o/ S7.50 each ( his indudes bus). Tickets must be paid for and picked up by Nov. 24. Park office hours are Mon. Sc Wed. 9:00 -12:00 or Sat. 10:00 -12:00. DALE PFAFF NAMED TO ELGIN COURIER 1st TEAM Last Tuesday. The Elgin Courier named Dale Pfaff to the All Area Ist Team. Dale had 200 tackles this year in 9 games. He had 51 solo tackles and 149 assists. LEGION FEATHER PARTY Pictured above is a scene from the Huntley Amencan Legion Feather Party held last Saturday. November 13.,In addition to the Feather Party, a bazaar was held by the Legion Auxiliary. Many turkeys and other fowl were given away that evening as everyone prepared for Thanksgiving. SCHOOLBOARD MEEHNG The regular meetinjs of the Board of Education of School District *I58. Huntley Consoli¬ dated Schools, Huntley. Illinois was held in the High School buildingon October 28. 1982 at 7:30 p.m. The President called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. Upon roll call the following members answered present: Mrs. Basel, Mrs. Massett, Mr. Heavey. Mr. O'Brien. Mr. Pupich, and Mr. Zirk. Absent: Mr. Reid. All present joined in the Pledge to the Flag. Mr. Heavey moved Mrs. Massett 2nd to approve the minutes of the October 14 regular meeting as written. The motion carried 6 yeas and 0 nays. Mrs. Basel moved Mr. Heavey 2nd to approve the confidential minutes of the October 14 executive session with corrections. The motion carried 6 yeas and 0 nays. The Board heard a report bv the High School Principal indicating a Survey conducted for students in grades 6-11. concerning a t^oieign Language Program. The program was to be based on current interests and needs of our students. The plan is to identify the two languages that appear to have the highest student interest and to list these oourse in the 1983/84 high sdiool pre- registration manual, and based on the pre-enrollments, to present a recommendation for consideration. Mr. Heavey moved Mr. O'Brien 2nd to waive the reading of the resolutbn and provide June Brown with IMRF retirement credit forthe first 18 month of her employment. The motbn carried with 6 yeas and 0 nays. Mr. O'Brien moved Mrs. Basel 2nd to accept with gratitude the gift of dugouts from the Athletic Boosters. The motion carried 6 yeas and 0 nays. Mr. Heavey moved to adjoum at 10:12 p.m. Mrs. Massett 2nd. Meeting adjoumed at 10:12 p.m. UONS CHRISTMAS PARTY The Huntley Lions Club will be holding their annual Christmas Party on December 4. 1982 at the American Legion Home.
