Festival of Handbells A Festival of Handbell Choirs will be held Sunday March 4th, at 7:00 pm at the North Junior High School, 170 N. Oak St., Crystal Uke. Approximately 80 ringers will perform on 500 handbells. The Choirs will perform individual selections and 5 massed rung numbers. They will be under the direction of well known handbell clinician David Week. Participating Choirs will be: Shepherd of the Hills, McHen¬ ry: 1st. Congregational, Crystal Uke; St. Paul's United Church of Crystal Uke; Evangelical Free Church, Wheaton; 1st. Church of Lombard; 1st. Con¬ gregational Church, Dundee; 1st. Congregational Church of Huntley. Members of the Huntley Handbell Choir are; Urry Warrington, Jean Mahon, Chad Warrington, Lois Fredrickson, Helen Kohler, Dale Anderson, Debbie Woodruff, Raelene Thackwray, Prudy Cole, Betsey Warrington, Kim Ziller and Helen Marlowe. There will be no admission charge and the public is invited to attend. Notice The Huntley District 158 Board pf Education will hold meetings fbr March on the folk>wing dates: March 1,1984-7:30 pm March 15.1984-7:30 pm No other meetings will be held during March. April meetings will be held on: AprU 12,1964-7:30 pm AprU 26,1984-7:30 pm As a finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Competitk>n. Miss Collins has scored in the top 1 percent of the Natk>n. At this meeting we had an Ice Cream Social. Our whole club had banana splits with their choice of topping. We all thought they were great I The people who gave talks at this meeting were; Jim Reed who gave his talk on the different kinds of rabbits. April Riedl did her talk on Qydesdale horses. Mike Riedl gave his talk on Holstein Fresian Cattle. Paula Kohley tald how to take care of calves. Nancy Kohley gave a talk on rabbh care, and Jeff Halat did his talk on baby pig management. Our next meeting is March 8th. This is our meeting on safety, other clubs from McHen¬ ry County have been invited to the meeting. Bring your parents as this meeting should be great for all to aee. Alt members are asked to bring refreshments to this meeting. In the absence of the President Ihe meeting was called to order by the Secretary at 7:30 pm. Upon roll call the folk>wing members answered present: Mrs. Basel, Mrs. Schadt, Mr. Freeberg, Mr. Heavey, and Mr. Zirk. Absent: Mr. Pupich, and Mr. O'Brien. All present joined in the Pledge to the Flag. 1. Mrs. Basel moved Mrs. Schadt 2nd to nominate Mr. Heavey as President Pro-Tem. Nominatkms closed. 5 yeas - 0 nays. Motion carried. 2. Mr. Freeberg moved Mrs. Basel 2nd to approve the minutes of the February 9 regular meeting as written. 4 yeas - 0 nays - 1 pass. Motkin carried. 3. Mrs. Schadt moved Mr. Freeberg 2nd to approve the Confidential minutes of the February 9 Executive Sesskm a$ written. 4 yeas - 0 nays - 1 pass. Motwn carried. 4. Mr. Tichy not being able to attend, the Repbrt on Driver Educatk>a was presented by Mr. Skomer. 5. Dr. Bunt gave a review of the financial situation and present¬ ed the conclusions arrived at by the Board. He stated that after investigating all input from the community, the staff, and the administration, the Board de¬ cided to fund the 1984/85 school program by a combination approach which includes (1) raising fees to parents, (2) budget cut-backs, and (3) deficit financing. Mr. Heavey then gave oppor¬ tunity for Visitors to speak, after which he explained to the assembly why certain suggest¬ ions oould not be used in preparation of the 1984-85 budget. 6. Mr. Heavey gave Special Collms, a senk>r at Huntley ' High School. Mr. Skomer read a newsrelease announcing that Cathy had been selected as finalist ui the Natwnal Merit Scholarship Competition. Mr. Heavey congratulated Miss Collins on the Board's behalf for this outatanding achievement. 7. Mr. Freeberg moved Mrs. Basel 2nd to approve a resolution appointing Dr. Bunt to prepare a tentative dudget for Huntley District #158 for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1984 and ending June 30, 1985, which tentative budget shall be filed with the Secretary of this Board. 5 yeas - 0 nays. Motbn carried. 8. Mrs. Schadt moved Mr. Freeberg 2nd to approve the folk>wing: Extra Curricular Ap¬ pointment; Kathy Leggee, Vol- lyball "B" Effective: 1983-84 Season. Resignatk>n; Julie Pe¬ tersen Effective: Close of 1983-84 School year. Yeas: Schadt, Freeberg. Basel, Zirk, and Heavey. Nays: none. 5 yeas - 0 nays. Motion carried. 9. Mr. Freeberg moved Mrs. Basel 2nd to suspend the rules for this meeting. 5 yeas - 0 nays. Motk>n carried. 10. Mr. Freeberg moved Mrs. Sdiadt 2nd to go into Executive Session at 10:31 pm to discuss Personnel. Yeas: Freeberg, Schadt, Basel, Zirk, and Hea¬ vey. Nays: none. 5 yeas - 0 nays. Motion carried. 11. Miss Cathy Collins, a senior at Huntley High School, was recognized by the Board of Education, the superintendent, and principal for her outstand¬ ing achievement at the February 23 Board meeting.
Festival of Handbells
