Drendel was chosen to participate in the state contest during Districi 11 competition held October 28 at Cherryvale Mall. Rockford. Ihc state competition, to be held at the Inn of the Lamplighter, Springfield (Toronto exit off Interstate 55) begins with a 12:30 luncheon followed by the fashion show at 1:30 pm. Karen's ensemble consisted of a white gaucho length jumpsuit and a grey wrap around jacker. The jumpsuit was made of 1002 lambs wool topstitched in grey. The wrap jacket was constructed form 100% Pendelton grey tweed fabric. Accessories to complete her outfit were grey suede boots and a black felt hat ornamented with brilliant pheasant feathers. Other contestants from McHenry County who competed at the district level were Petra Volmer of Woodstock and Penny Jeffers ot Harvard. Volmer was selected first alternate to the state competition. The contest is sponsored by the Women's Auxiliary of the Illinois Lamb and Wool Producers, Inc, the Women's Auxiliary of the National Wool Growers and the American Sheep Producers Council. Pictured above are some the Santa's Fund Halloween Costume" "Contest which was held at the Huntley School 7:30 pm last Tuesday, October 31st. Children of all ages were picked by a panel of judges. The rest of the winners are pictured inside in a double page spread. HUNTLEY AREA JAYCEES LAND OF THE FREE, HOME OF THE BRAVE... On Veterans Day, Saturday, November 11th, the Huntley American Legion Post and Unit #673 will dedicate the flag pole at the Huntley Cemetary with appropriate ceremonies beginning at 2 p.m. The Huntley Area Jaycees held their annual Haunted House On October 30th & 31st with fun for all the Huntley children. VILLAGE BOARD REPORT The Regular Meeting of the VUlage Board of Trustees was held in the Board Room on November 2, 1978 and brought to order by President Enstrom at 8:00 P.M, Roll noted the following present: President Enstrom, Trustees Stroupe, Ackman, Lohneis, Mercer, as well as Attorney Caldwell, Superinten¬ dent of Public Works Swanson and the Chairman of the Zoning and Planning Commissions, Absent: Trustee Frank and Eisenmenger. The minutes of the October S, 1978 regular meeting were brought to the Board for examination and there being no additions nor corrections they stood approved as presented: however, when the special meeting minutes of October 18th were presented. Trustee Stroupe asked that the Clerk change the word "split" to "spread" (per Attorney Cald¬ well's instructions) on page twu paragraph two. With this cor rection they also stood approv ed. The Treasurer's report was then presented and Trustee Stroupe stated that he would recommed in the form of a motion that this report br approved subject to later review due to the absence of th' Managerial report. This motio seconded by Trustee Ackma- and upon roll call, all trustees voted ayer and mos lon carried The current expenses wen reviewed by the Board and a motion was made by ruMix Ackman, seconded by Trusin Stroupe, to approve thcir pa> ment, and upon roll call, all trustees voted aye, motion carried and listing of same is hereto attached. Wendell Weltzien was rec¬ ognized and announced that the two lots belonging to the Weltzien's at the rear of their property were being sold. He requested that the street be¬ tween the Strickland and Reh¬ berg properties be extended so as to ecome an access to the properties in question. He advised that the dewer and water would be taken care of, as well as a sub base, and gravel to the street, by them. President Enstrom and the Board directed him to the Planning Commission for further action. Trustee Frank entered the meeting during the above discussion. Representatives from the audhing firm of Lester Witte and Co. were present to discuss the village's financial condition and to explain in more detail their letters of October 4 and October 18, 1978. After some discussion, it was decided that the representatives of the firm would meet with the Finance Committee to work out prob¬ lems that have occurred, and they were instructed to come prepared to answer a number of questions the Board had. As per last meeting, the Annexation Agreement cover¬ ing property commonly known as the Plote property on County . Continued on Inside Page
