Pictured with Bob Schultz, Boys State Chairman for Huntley American Legion Post #673, and James Skomer, Principal of Huniley High School are the three Junior High School boys, who were selected to attend this years Boys State program. Bob Livingston, John Spears and Steven Reynolds.
Ihis years Boys State will be held on the campus of Eastern Illinois University at Charleston from June bth thru the Uth.
The Boys State program was originated in Illinois in 1934. Since then more than 521000 boys Kave attended the sessions in fllinois: The plan has been adopted by the national organization of tbe American Legion and it is now in operation in all SO states. Iiiinots, as the source of the idea, enjoys the appellation of Premier Boys State.
Boys State is a plan for training in the functional aspects of citizenship. Its purpose is to help to develop in the youth of today

This year the Miss Huntley Contest will be held on May 21st at the Hunttey Elementary Gjrmnasiuni. For those interest¬ ed who have gradiuted from higli school, coatict Linda Borchart at 669-5980 or Connie Rosenthal at 669-3501. Forms are available at Huntley High School for those who are still in school. Deadline is April 30th.
The public is invited to attend.
OLIVER IS HERE!!
The musical "Oliver" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on May 1 & 2 at Huntley High Scbool.
"Oliver" recounts the story of an orphan ejected from a London workhouse and forced to eam his bread by falling in with a gang of pickpockets. When he is apprehended by the police, his long-lost grandfather at¬ tempts to rescue him but Fagin, the ringleader of the gang, sends his thug. Bill Slkes, after Oliver to recapture him and keep him from talking. Only Nancy, Sike's girl friend, is willing to help Oliver to escape Fagin's clutches.
Tanya Pupich will star as Oliver. Steve Parisek will act the part of the brutal Sikes. Chris
'Pupich will play the corrupt! Fagin. Julie Bunt wiU be the Artful Dodger and Leslie Grau will play Nancy. Other cast members will include Keith Dobrolinsky as Mr. Brumble, Jim Blank and Shana McGee as workhouse assistants, Sue Schaller as Bet, Mike Grechis as Mr. Sowerberry, Kim Keams as Mrs. Sowerberry, Carol Emesti as Charlotte, Dave Hanses as Noah Qaypole, Bob Livingston as Dr. Grimwig, Carl Michalek as Mr. Brownlow, Vicki Zirk as Mrs. Bedwin and Becky Pierce as Old Sally.
The workhouse kids and Fagin's gang of pickpockets will perform such musical numbers as "Oliver", "Consider Your¬
self, and "You've Got to Pick a Pocket or Two." These raga¬ muffins will be played by Chris Manley, Rick Clavey, Mike Pistoressi, Bill Darling, Dave Erath, Bernie Kearns, Stacie Akerberg, H<rfly Pupich, Aman¬ da Pawl, Chad Warrington, and Dan Erath. Other musical numbers will be performed by the choms and an assortment of street vendors including Lori Resh, Dan Susong, Dave Rogman, Michelle Sinclair, Mike Urban, Bemadette Dar¬ ling, April Fischer and Becky Kunde.

Ust Saturday, April 18th, the Huntley PTO held their 2nd Annual Fun Fair at the Huntley Grade School Gym with a large crowd attending. In charge of itic Fair were Mary Jo Mercer and Marlene Holle, who with their volunteer workers were responsible for clearing approximately S1300.
Among the games this year were Goldfish, Sesame St. Bean Bag, Kite game. Pizza pin. Barbie gatne and Huntley 500. Again this year a special booth was set up to make children into clowns. Many ol the prizes were homemade stuffed animals donated by Huntley residents. Refreshments of Hot dogs, pop and cotton candy were provided. The PTO will be buying the school a Commetdal Pop Corn Popper so the grade school children can eam money for their projects. Continued on Page 8 & 9
SIXTH GRADE RUMMAGE SALE
The Huntley Sixth Grade Class will hold a Rummage and Bake Sale on Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the American Legion Hall. In addition to unique and useful items available at the mmmage sale, there will be a wide variety of fresh baked goods for sale. Beginning at 3 p.m. a $1 a bag sale will be held.
LIONESS CARMEL CORN DAY
The preparations are almost over, the street corners are assigned and the caramel conM in band. ^
It's time for Lioness Clnb Caramel Com Dayt The date is Friday, May 1, and the iwurs are fh>m early moming through early evening, with members of the Huntiey Lioness Club gearing up to give away caramel corn and accept donations to benefit the blind, visually handicapped, deaf and hearing impaired.

PARK DISTRICT MEETINQ
The regular meeting of tbe Huntley Park District was caiied to order by Presldoit Ruth at 8 o'clock Wedneaday, April 22, 1981. Present were Commis- ¦faMers Ruth, Wehilea, Meroer, Tures, and Borhart. Also in attendance were Larry Kahl, Attomey Cowlin and Tom Jurs.
The minutes of the March 25th meeting were read. Mr. Tures moved for approval of the minutes, seconded by Mr. Weltzien. All commissioners voted aye and the motion, carried.. I
The Treasurer's report was given. Mr. Borhari moved to accept the report, seoonded by Mr. Tures. All aye votes and tbe motioncarried.
The bills for the month were passed and discussed. Mrs. Mercer moved to pay all bills, seconded by Mr. Tures. All Commissioners voted aye and the motion catried.
Reaervations for paric facili¬ ties were presented. A motkm to accept these reservations was made by Mr. Weltzien. abooad by Mr. Tures. All ayes and the motion carried.
