Ryan Praises Area Senior
Lieutenant Govemor Ge¬ orge Ryan has commended Louise Kreutzer for her participation in the Senior Legislative Porum Training Conference which was held in Springfield on October 16-18, 1983.
Mrs. Kreutzer is Chairman of the Housing Committee of Region II. Region II consists of DuPage, Grundy, Kane, Kanka¬ kee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will Counties.
"Louise's didication to ad¬ dressing the concems of our older citizens is greatly appreciated by the govemment decision-makers in Springfield,' Ryan said. "Because of people like Louise, we are better equipped to address those concems."
The slogan of the organiz«tion is "Seniors Helping Seniors". To be a member of the Senior Legislative Forum you must be a senior citizen representing an organization or group of at least 25 members.
Thc Forum is a grass-roots senior citizens' organization focusing on issues that directly affect the elderly. The seniors themselves determine what tfiar needs'ife, aria ¦S&W tliey cat) best be met. The organization assists with, and lobbies for. legislation to aid seniors.
As part of Lieutenant Govemor Ryan's responsibili¬ ties and concems, he also has two Senior Action Centers, one in Chicago and one in Springfield. The Lake Shore Riders and the Milwaukee Gustos will square off in a Wheelchair Basketball game in the McHenry County College multi¬ purpose room Saturday, Dec. 3 at 7:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Easter Seal Society for McHenry County, "Wheelchair Basket¬ ball is not only exciting, it is an inspiration to those who do not encounter the disabled in such active, sporting ways "states Jenny van Treese, public relations director.
According to Van Treese, Wheelchair Basketball orgina- ted after World War D and especially took hold after the Korean War when so many men suffered the loss of their legs and missed participating in active sports. TTierapists sensi¬ tive to their needs soon realized that they could definitely go ahead and play... with a few adjustments.
Wheelchair BasketbaU play¬ ers train just as rigorously as any other league teams and are totally committed to their sport. The game, is an e««ll«nt opportunity fbr famUies with chUdren to point out the great achievements of these fine athletes" stated Van Treese.

Lioness Minutes
The November meeting of the Huntley Lioness was held November 16 at the Legion. The meeting opened with the pledge led by may Chesak. President Bev Harimann selected the song from the song sheet, "Little Brown Church," that the gtoup sang. Minutes were read and approved. A thank-you was read from Joan Price, who was a euest at our tast meeting.

A letter from Lions of Illinois Eye Research Institute was read expressing their gratitude for¬ the Lioness' gift of $150 in honor of the Union, Ulinois American Legion. The Union Legion assisted the Huntley Lioness by allowing them the use of some of their bingo equipment.
