Post Commander Charies Conley announced. All residents of Huntley are invited to attend and participate in this patriotic commemorative observance. Commander Conely reminded. The cermonies are scheduled to begin at 10:30 AM at the Huntley American Legion Home and at 11:00 AM at the Huntley cemetary. The program at the cemetary is as follows: Invocation Rev. Frederick Harm, Trinity Lutheran Church, Huntley Placing of wreath at base of Flag Pole Boy Scouts In Flanders Field Heidi Degner Solo William Leggee Speaker Winston Baumann. Trinity Lutheran Church, Huntley PAULA ISENHART PLACES 4th IN STATE FINALS On May 19 and 20 four Huntley High School Track girls, Paula | Isenhart, Cindy Jacobs, Deb Lovins and Marian Manning, competed in the State Track meet in Charieston. There were 194 Class A schools and 150 Class AA schools involved in track competition. Of this group 584 ^testants took part. The preliminaries were held on Friday, May 19th. Te top eight teams for each relay qualified for the finals on Saturday. Cindy Jacobs started the relay with Deb Lovins 2nd, followed by Marian Manning and Paula Isenhart ran last. Each runner ran 110 yards. The girls turned in their best time of the season :53.20. However this time did not qualify them for the finals. All four girls also ran the 880 medley relay. This time Paula Isenhart began the relay by running 220 yards with Deb Lovins who ran 110 yards, Cindy Jacobs followed with UO yards. Continued on Back Page CINDY J ACOBS NAMED MISS HUNTLEY Last Tuesday, May 23rd, the Huntley Lions "Club held their monthly meeting at which time they choose the new Miss Huntley. Cindy Jacobs, daughter of Mr. Sc Mrs. Richard Jacobs was named Miss Huntley of 1978. Other girls competing for the title were Paula Munnich and Rose Mortimer. Last years Miss Huntley was Beckie Harm. Cindy's first public appearance will be the Lions Club Chicken Barbeque on June 18th. Ron Marsh Salutatorian Ron Marsh, son of Mr. & Mrs James Marsh, 14807 Church Rd., Huntley, has been named Salutatorian ofthe class of 1978. Ron, the 1978 S. A. R. winner, has been very active during his high school years, both as a school leader and as an athlete. Ron has been a class officer all four years. President of FFA the last two years and 1976-77 Student Council Vice-President. Ron was a three year varsity player in both football and baseball, aiiJ piayed varsity basketball a-, , jr. Ron will attend Bradle> University and plans to major ii> Civil Fngineering. Lori McCollum Valedictorian Lori McCollum. daughter of Mrs. Ronald D. Friedel, 11616 Berniece, Huntley has been named Valedictorian ofthe class of 1978. Lori has been a two year National Honors Society mem¬ ber and served as the organiza¬ tions Vice-President this year. She has been very active in coordinating this year's Senior Class trip. In addition, Lori was awarded the first scholarship given by the Huntley Educatio ¦ Association. During her hig'i school career, Lori was active i : volleyball and track, studen* council and the VICA Club. Lori plans to attend Northem Illinois University and major in Medical Technology. QiRADUATION JUNE1 Huntley High School will graduate 58 seniors on Thurs¬ day, June 1, 1978 at 8:00 P.M. Commencement activities will be held in the High School gym.
