RESOLUTION
HOWARD RUTH
The Legislative & Public Affairs Committe ofthe McHeiuy County Bowd respectfully submits herewith the following Resolution and movei fbr its adoption:
WHEREAS, it has come to the attention of the Honorable Board that HOWARD C. RUTH, now deceased, served as a member ofthe BOARD OF SUPERVISORS of McHenry County from his election on April 6, 1965 through April 30, 1972. and as Supervisor of Grafton Township for 12 years.
WHEREAS, the said HOWARD C. RUTH has given seven years of dedicated service to the prople of McHenry County and Grafton Township in a most efficient and courteous manner: .also serving on the Public Building Commission.
WHEREAS, he has always maintained a most conscientious attitude in the performance of his duties:
NOW, THEREFORE. BE FT RESOLVED that the County Board of McHenry County here expresses its sincere appreciation to HOWARD C. RUTH for his faithful service to the prople of McHenry County: and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this Resoluti¬ on be spread upon the records of thiii Board and that a copy ofthe same be givmio tht family ofthe late HOWARD C.RUTH.

The Grafton Township meeting . was held Thursday, February 10 in the Township Garage Office. A special meeting of the trustees convened at 6 pm to do the necessary audit required by law due to the vacancy on the board created by the death of the Supervisor, Howard Ruth.
The regular meeting began at 7 pm with Trustees Oldham, Schul¬ tz, Pierce and Schmuck present. Also in attendance were Vemon Bnmschon, Road Commissioner and Virginia Brunschon, Townsh¬ ip Assessor, Mrs. Mildred Ruth and Mary Lou Hardy.
On the advice of Mr. Greg Slovacek, who was in attendance as a taxpayer and interested citizen and who also happens to be an attorney, the board appoint¬ ed Jim Schultz to act as tempora¬ ry chairman and David Oldham as protem Qerk. Mr. Slovacek stat¬ ed that he was not here as an attorney, however would be willi¬ ng to submit hh opinion to the board to help them so that all procedures would be legal.
The board then appointed Mary Lou Hardy as temporary clerk in the abscense of Richard Enstrom and Mrs. Mildred Ruth was appointed to the board to fill out the term of Supervisor held by her late husband. On the advice of Mr. Slovacek neither were permi¬ tted to perform their duties until they could take the twth of offlee. Since no one present coidd admi¬ nister the oath, it was advised that this btf done at tbe County Qerks office on Monday, Februa¬ ry 14. At that time Mrs. Ruth must also post the necessary bonda. It was noted tiie bond must be signed by Mr. Brunschon as his capacity as Road Commlss- iooer and filed in the County
Clerks office.
The meeting proceeded with the reading of the minutes of the January meeting; These were approved with the exception of the paragraph pertaining to the possible land acquisition and its use now under consideration by the Twonship Board. The wording of the paragraph was not clear and would have to be clarified on the return of Mr. Enstrom before it could be approved by the trustees.
The treasurers report was giv¬ en and approved as were all current bills. Mr. Brunschon stat¬ ed that the anticipation warrant, which had been previouly approv¬ ed by the board, would not be taken all at once.
The board made known the polling places for the Township election on April Sth and also set the salaries for the election judges. The meeting adjourned at 10:15.
The next regular meeting will be held on March 10th. Townahip meetings are held at the Townah¬ ip garage office every second Thursday in the month and are open to the public.

JOHN WELTZIEN TAKES lat PLACE IN FS BOWLING COMPETION
Forty-four bowlers have been determined to represent McHenry County Farm Bureau in Sports Festival District tourna¬ ment at Rockford this Friday morning.
Larry Harris, Farm Bureau manager, said competition is divided into two general divi¬ sions: Open Gass and Young Adult. A check of the roster shows the successful entrants come from every part of McHenry County. Huntley is well repre¬ sented. So are Crystal Lake, Woodstock, Harvard and McHenry. Other winners are from Cary, Spring Grove, Union and Alden.
Top series score in the county toumey was posted by Bert Rank, Woodstock, who is also the chair¬ man for the McHenry County Farm Bureau bowling touma¬ ment. Rank rolled a 214-210- 212-636 series, but he was pressed closely by a Young Adult bowler, John Weltzien, Huntley, who had a 224-247-163-634. Tim Wheelock, McHenry, has games of 235 and 221 enroute to a 633 series. Best single game belong¬ ed to Leroy Kuecker, Spring Grove. He had a 267 that helped him compile a 624 series.
Among women bowlers, Lydia Brael, Harvard, put together three strong games fbr a 220-219- 171-610 total. Mary Simon, Marengo, had a 203 game. Sandra Konaszewski, Huntley, had a 498 series. Rosemary Becker, Crystal Lake, posted a 486series.
