TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH    BECKIE HARM WISHING MISS PICNIC HUNTLEY GOOD LUCK
Last Sunday, July 23rd, Trinity Lutheran Church held its annual Church Picnic at Deicke Park. The day began at 10:30 with a church service conducted by Rev. Frederick Harm. Following the service, a pot luck luncheon was held with homeade dishes of all kinds on display.
This year as before the Sunday School Teachers had games and prizes for the children such as a three legged race, a water ballon throw, a bean bag toss, a candy throw and the sawdust pile with money for all the children. Adults and children sent ballons soaring with their name tags attached to them. The children are hoping that the whoever finds the tag will retum them to the church.
A great time was had by all and Sunday School Superintendent
Jim Henning is planning for next years picnic to make it even better

Fifth Grade and Ninth Grade, must have a physical, including up-to-date immunization record, and den¬ tal examination before the first day of school. Physical forms may be picked up in the high school office Monday thru Friday from 8 A.M. yo4 P.M.

MEETING
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #158, Huntley Consoli¬ dated Schools, Huntley, 11. was held in the High School building on July 13, 1978 at 7:30 P.M.
The   President   called   the meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. Upon roll call the following members answered present: Mrs. Pawl, Mrs. Livingston. Mr.  Spears,  Mr.   Pupich,  and Mr. Zirk.    Members absent: Mr. Brettschneider and Mr. Grismer.
At this time all persons present joined in the Pledge to the Flag.
Mr. Pupich moved and Mrs. Pawl 2nd to approve the minutes of the June 29 meeting as written, 5 yeas, motion carried.
Mr. Pupich moved and Mrs. Pawl 2nd to withold payment of the monthly bills except pay¬ ment of $1000 to Country Mutual Insurance Co. 5 yeas, motion carried.
Mr. Pupich moved and Mr. Zirk 2nd to transfer $299.48 to the Imprest Fund. 5 yeas, motion carried.
Mrs. Pawl moved and Mr. Zirk 2nd to transfer $60,000 from the Building Fund to the Education Fund. 5 yeas, motion carried.
Mr. Pupich moved and Mrs. Pawl 2nd to approve the length ofthe 1978-1979 School year to be 185 days as required by the I.O.E. and that the 1978-1979 School day be Kindergarten 8:30 - 11:00 2nd 12:40 - 3:10 Grades 1 - 5 8:30 - 3:10 and Grades 6 - 12 8':30 - 3:15. 5 yeas, motion carried.
Mr. Zirk moved and Mrs. Pawr 2nd to approve the 1978-1979 School Year calendar as presented. 5 yeas, motion carried.

HUNTLEY SCHOOLS IN NEED OF ADDITIONAL FUNDS
The following is a report which was given to School Board members at the last meeting ^ conceming the financial situat¬ ion of the Huntley School District.
ASSESSING THE PRESENT SITUATION
During the 1977-78 school year, the education fund ran out of T^onies in January. Financial ^> mitments, such as payroll, supplies, equipment and need¬ ed services, could ,iot be met without borrowing. The signifi¬ cance of this fact indicates that only enough money was avail¬ able to meet expenses for '/i of the year.
During the winter and spring months, the board borrowed up to the legal maximum in the education fund ($398,000 at 5% interest), against fiscal 1979 taxes. By June, this money was also used up. So in addition the board borrowed up to the legal limit in the building fund ($67,000 at 5^4% interest), against fiscal 1979 taxes. Thus, the district is presently in debt almost '/] million dollars, and must by law. pay back these debts from new taxes, before any new financial commitments can be paid.
THE FUTURE
In order to make the payroll for July 25, the Board voted to delay payment of monthly bills ($23,000). It now appears that it may be necessary to continue the delay of payment of bills for another month, in order to meet th6 August 10 payroll.
Atthe July 13 board meeting, i( was decided to sell working cash fund bonds to help alleviate the financial dilemna. This action will produce about $420,000 ' new money and should have the effect of allowing the distria to begin the 1979 fiscal year only $80,000 in debt, as opposed to 5500,000. Without this new money, it is questionable whether the dist¬ rict will be able to complete the 1978-79 school year, even after borrowing the legal maximum against the taxes due in fiscal 1980.
LIONS CLUB PICNIC
The Annual Lions Gub Picnic will be August 13 at Deicke Park. Chairman ofthe event will be Bill Kearns, assisted by Lions Don and Dick Kohley. There is a donation of $10.00 per family and please bring a dish to pass. 11 a.m. is the starting time.
Al members who have not turned their Barbeque tickets and money in to President Rudsinski, are asked to do so, so that the final tally can be made.
The next regular meeting will be Sept. 12 at the Legion Home. September 14 is a Zone meeting at Andre's Steak House in Richmond. Directors and mem¬ bers planning to attend are urged to contact the President or Secretary. Reservations are needed by Sept. 6th.
