To celebrate this the members of St. Mary's Parish crowned the staSe^nthelchur^^wn witlT a wreath of flowers after the 10 o'clock service on Sunday, May Uth. Members of the First Communion dass, the church choir and members ofthe parish aU partidpated in the observance. Cassie Evans To Compete For Miss Teen Of America Cassandra Lyim Evans, of |l/Iuntley has been selected to compete in the State competi¬ tion in Peoria, June 14-16, for the Miss Teen of America Scholarship and Recognition Pageant. Cassie, a sophmore at Huntley High School and member of the National Honor Sodety, has maintained a 4.0 average as weU as t>een a very active partidpant in school, sodal, and community activi¬ ties. This particular pageant is unique in that it stresses not merely physical appearance but also a young women's abUity to be a genuine asset to her community through various achievements and intellectual abUity. During the course of the three day pageant, the candidates wUl partidpate in a Muscular Dystrophy Fund raiser which hopes to net $20,000 towards the worthy cause. Cassie is being sponsor¬ ed by Ventura Assodates - Realtors; the Huntley American Legion AuxUiary; and the Huntley Lions Qub, who encourage young women to use their full potential and strive for success. Robert Morris College Business Administration Program Graduates Graduation exerdses were held on 4-19-85 for 51 Business Administration students who l>egan their program in July. Recognition was given to those students who received the honors award requiring a 3.5 GPA, perfect attendance, and skUl awards. Award redpient graduates from Huntley were: Sandy Wiesneth. 11208 Sunset Drive, Huntley - High Honors - 4.0 GPA; and Pauline ZUler, 41203 Sunset Drive, Huntley, - High Honors - 4.0 GPA. Lioness News The Huntley Lioness held their monthly meeting, Wed¬ nesday, June 17 at the Legion. The meeting opened with the pledge and singing "SmUes", and "America, the Beautiful." The Secretary's report was read and approved. May Chesak reported on Honors Night at the High School where she presented the Girl Staters with their checks. Caramel Com Day was successful with $1065. 33% of this amount wUl stay in the Huntley Lioness treasury to be used for sight or sound projects or needs. Lioness Awards dinner wUl be held at BUl's VUlage Inn on June 19. The Miss Huntley Pageant' wUl be held at the Town Picnic at Deieke Park on Sunday, June 9th. Lorraine Dobrolinsky has been hospitalized and the Lioness wish her a speedy recovery. Susan Hopkins was voted in as a new member. Welcome, Susan. Our bingo committee now consists of five members: Gwen Jensen, GaU Wasserstrass, Ariene Mattingly, Robin Spini¬ olas and Carol Weirich. The Lioness wUl have some of their members march in the Memor¬ ial Day Parade. Dennis Rudsinski, Lioness Liaison attended the meeting. Olive Staadt led a TaUtwister game. The meeting was adjoumed with the singing of "God Bless America." Chief Veath Receives Award Pictured at>ove is Chief Dave Veath who recently received the George Van De Voorde Leadership and Outstanding Service Award. It is given in honor of exceptional contribution to the Greater Elgin Area MobUe Intensive Care Program. The award was established last year when George Van De Voorde retired and Chief Veath is the first to receive it. A large plaque is displayed in the Sherman Hospital Emergency Room and wUl have a new name added to it each year. Dave also has one in his home. Chief Veath stated that he was very honored to be the first to receive this award. Capt. John Hutsler wrote the resume' to be submitted to the Hospital Staff and Intensive Care Program Staff who went tiirough all the resumes' to seled a winner. Congratulations Chiefl
