Gift Of Lights...A Family's    Christmas Tradition

Have you seen the soft glow coming from Coyne Station Road this Christmas season? It is the Holiday Collection of the Jordi family.
Five years ago Al Jordi purchased a lighted holiday collection from a man in Crystal Lake, who could no longer display the illuminated characters. This was the start of the collection. These past years Mr. Jordi has added many items to his 4,000-light Christmas collection, and is always looking for new and unusal items to add to the display.
"This is truly a family affair", Mr. Jordi stated. They start to ready the yard and house in October. It takes over 40 hours of
lamily help" to display the collection. Son, Shane, is in charge of running the electricity and makes sure every character is supplied with power. The first year, he said, there was trouble with the electrical breakers constantly blowing. However, the problems have been solved and more lights ar<! added yearly.  Al's wife, Alice, his daughter. Dawn and son-in-law, Kevin Ellison help place the displays in . the yard.
There are candles, angels, a choir, a nativity set, even Santa Claus and his reindeer suspended in mid-air between the house and garage. The large candy canes on each side of the driveway, made out of stove pipes, and the
snowmen cut-outs were made by Mr. Jordi. Next year he hopes to add a train to the collection.
Replacement bulbs (about 200 a year) and the electric bill are the biggest expenses for the Jordi's. Every night from December 1st until New Year's Day Mr. Jordi checks each character and power source before lighting them.
Some evening drive about a mile and a half down Coyne Station Road with your family and enjoy the lighted trees and characters at the Jordi's country home. AI and Alice Jordi's granddaughter, Katy Ellison, sunu it up best when she says,"Pretty, Poppa, pretty lights!"
Board Of Education Minutes
The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #158, Huntley Consolidated Schools, Huntley, Illinois was held in the High School building on November 17, 1988 at 7:30 pm.
The meeting was called to order by the President at 7:35 pm. Upon roll call the following members answered present: Mrs. Schadt, Mrs. McDonald, Mr. Crabill, Mr. Heavey, Mr. Bauman, Mr.
Freeberg. Absent: Mr. Greve. All present joined in the pledge to the flag.
1. Mr. Crabill moved, Mr. Heavey 2nd to approve the minutes of the October 18 regular meeting as written. 6 yeas - 0 nays, Motion carried.
Mr. Greve entered the meeting at 7:42 pm.
2. Mrs. McDonald moved, Mr. Greve 2nd to approve payment of monthly agenda of bills
and imprest. Education - $29,345.69; OBM - $6,256.71; Bond ic Interest - $161,831.25; Transportation - $1,750.82.  Yeas: McDonald, Greve, Schadt, Heavey, Crabill, Freeberg, Bauman; Nays: None. 7 yeas - 0 nays. Motion carried. 3. Mr. Bauman moved, Mr. Heavey 2nd to approve

A Lot Like Christmas Celebration
Everywhere you go - Christmas fills the air! And, without music, Christmas just wouldn't be the same.
The students of Huntley Schools will be performing at their annual "Christmas Concerts" in the Grade School Gym on:
December 19th at 7:00 pm Kindergarten through 5th
December 20th at 7:30 pm Jr. High and High School

Kathryn "Kate" Bonkosky was 90 years old on December 13, but the celebrating goes on and on. About 40 children and grandchildren came to celebrate with her over the weekend. And they are still coming, taking her out to dinner or bringing gifts and goodies. Her friends from Senior Citisen's have taken her out for dinner to celebrate, too.
She joking laments, "I'm going to put on ten pounds— so much cake!" But you can hear the pride in her voice when says, "My children and friends are all to good to me."
