McHenry County Chairman, Mrs. Neva Robertshaw welcomed the guests. Mrs. May Chesak, Huntley Unite Girl State Chairman and 1st Vice President, was in charge of the program with three I tormer gin staters tor neipers. Koberta Kosendahl, Lynn Mottola, both of Crystal Lake and Ann Hamblin of Huntley, each gave a brief but interesting resume of their experiences at Girls State. About 40 girl staters, mothers, Girl State Chairman, Unit Presidents and guest attended the tea. Mrs. Chesak will be the moderator for the District Tea on April 27th. Girl State will be held at McMurray College on June 15th to the 21st. Mrs. Mary Eamer. McHenry Co. Auxiliary President, and Mrs. Marilyn Eckman, Huntley Unit President, were pourers. Mrs. Chesak was a former counselor at Girls Statei BLOOD BANK A SUCCESS SCHOOLBOARD MEETING The regular meeting of the Board of Education of School District #158, Huntley Consoli¬ dated Schools, Huntley Illinois, was held in the High School building on April 17, 1980 at 7:30 p.m. the President called the meeting of the retiring Board to order at 7:30 p.m. Upon roll call the following members answer¬ ed present: Mr. Grismer, Mrs. Basel, Mr. Pupich, Mrs. Livingston and Mr. Zirk. Absent Mr. Spears and Mrs. Pawl. All present joined in the Pledge to the Flag. Mr. Grismer moved Mrs. Basel 2nd to approve the minute OS the March 27, meeting as written. The motion carried 5 yeas and 0 nays. ^ Mrs. Basel moved Mr. Pupich 2nd that the Canvass of Election as herein set forth be approved and adopted.The motion carried with S yeas and 0 nays. Each duly elected member of the Board of Education was inlucted Into membership upon repeating aloud-the Code of Conduct, as adopted by the Illinois Association of School Continued on Page S 50 units of blood were drawn at the Huntley Area Blood drawtaig I [thanks to all of the people who came out to donate there were I several gallon donors. We have started the Hunley Area Blood Bank Gallonaub. don Hardy is 1 unit short of known 3 gallonsi This is great. The first drawing was held April 1974 at that time we drew 75 units. Since then we have gone to 2 drawings a year at the Legion Home and have drawn 747 units. In June of 1976 Union Special under the direction of Marilyn Fettes started their own drawings. The first drawing was 200 units. The nert year in July the nite crew started. They drew 3S units and are steadily increasing. Since June 1976 Union Special has drawn 783 unltsi How wonderfull That means that 1,530 units have been drawn in Huntley since April 197411 There are many people to thank. The list grows every year. The Huntley Area Blood Bank is sponsored by the American Legicm AuxUiary as a conununity project. Thank you all. Neva Robertshaw Area Blood Chm. FUN FAIR A "HIT" Last Saturday about 200 people attended the Huntley Fun Fair which was blessed with beautifiil weather and the help of close to 100 moms, dads, senior citizens, teachers, janitors and friends of the school children. Last Thursday, Wally Pupich, incumbent, and Jim Reid were' I installed as School Board members at the Thursday School Board! I Meeting. Mr. Reid is replacing Mrs. Pawl, who chose not to run forj I a second term, while Mr. Pupich will be serving his second term as| a school board member. KTTSr Bl VlUn CONTEST MAY 171h CPR CLASS CHANGED TOMAYTIh The American Legion Auxi¬ liary is sponsoring a CPR Class on MAY 7tii. This date has been changed from April 24th. This is a 4 hour session, after which a the class member is certified. the instructors are David Veath and Bryan Spencer. CPR class will be held at the Fire House. Hopefully the instruct¬ ors will be using their very own equipment which should arrive around May 1st. Please call Neva Robershaw, American Legion Auxiliary Chairman at 669-3683 to sign up. On Saturday, May 17 at 1:00, the Huntley Park District will be sponsoring a kite flying contest. John LeFeber of Hampshire will be on hand to demonstrate many of his different styles of handmade kites.
