Spokesman Larry Basel stated that the need for the new addition is due to the higher productivity at Dean's since being Jewel Store's main supplier. Although there is no contract, supplying to Jewel will continue for an indefinite period. The new addition at the front of the building will house a new cooler and the rear addition is planned for storage. Commended Student In The 1986 Merit Program Park District Minutes The regular meeting of the Huntley Park District was called to order on Wednesday, September 25, 1985 at 8 pm in the park office building. Present were Commissioners Tures, Jurs, Gumett, Olson and Mercer, Attomey Cowlin and Mrs. Warrington. A motion to approve the minutes of the August 14th Special Meeting for public hearing of the tax levy was made by Mr. Guraett, second by Mr. Olson. All ayes and the motion carried. Mrs. Mercer made a motion to approve the minutes of the regular meeting on August 28th, seconded by Mr. Jurs. All ayes and the motion carried. Mr. Gumett moved to accept the Treasurer's report, second by Mrs. Mercer. All ayes and the motion carried. The bills for the month were presented. A motion to pay all bills was made by Mr. Jurs, seconded by Mr. Gumett. All ayes and the motion carried. Connie Lombard entered the meeting and stated that she is looking for instmction space. Commissioners Jurs and Mercer will head a committee to get more information. Conferences for park dis¬ tricts, tree donations, teen programs, halloween, soccer and resurface tennis courts were the main items in Mrs. Warrington's report. Mr. Tures showed the initial map of Deieke Park, identifying the different trees and showing their common and botonical names. The maintenance report mainly covered fencing and dirt around the pond. The board will accept bids for fencing on the north side of 01' Hmer's Parit and 500 yards black dirt delivered to Deieke Park. Specifications are available at the park office and bids will be opened at Ocatober 23, 1985 regular meeting. The board discussed the proposed sites for the mainten¬ ance building. A motion to accept the alternate 2 site was made by Mr. Tures, second by Olson. The motion carried with four ayes and one nay (Jurs). Mrs. Mercer moved for adjournment, seconded by Mr. Gumett. The meeting was adjouraed at 10 pm. These minutes are subject to approval by the t>oard at their next regular meeting. Lois Parisek Secretary Huntley Parit District LWML Suiday October 6tli. "Give God Glory" is the theme for LWML Sunday, designated Oct. 6, 1985 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Hunt¬ ley. The Lutheran Womens' Missionary League is a womens auxiliary organization of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod. Members, Sue Kittle and Chris Follman will participate in the service and greeters are Marj Mahnke and Sue Henning. Leaguers will host a coffee-fellowship hour follow¬ ing the service. Carol Henning is President of Trinity's League. Huntley High Sdiool has been notified by National Merit Scholarship Corporation that Stacie Akertwrg has been designated Commended Student in the 1986 Merit Program. The principal, David Booth, presented Miss Akerberg with a Letter of Commendation in honor of outstanding academic promise, demonstrated by placing in the top five percent of over one million participants in the 31st annual National Merit Scliolarship Program. Participants entered the current Merit Program by taking the PSAT/NMSQT in October 1984, when most of them were juniors. Mr. Booth, stated that "Being named a Commended Student in the extremely competitive Merit Program is a credit to this young woman and to both the Huntley Grade School and High School which have played an important role in her academic development. The high test performance of Commended Students is indicative of exceptional scholastic ability, which is essential in a nation that prides itself on cultivating individual excellence. I hope the honor she has eamed will provide motivation to use her talents to the fullest and also will serve as an example for other aspiring young students."
