Many Huntley students received awards which included ribbons, plaques and medals. All participants received certificates. The Algebra II Team: Pat Glenn, Nancy Kohiey, Sara Matz, Kevin Schrock and Jackie Swanson received first place for their combined individual scores. The Algebra I Team: KeUy Baumann, Amy Bein, Jim Cook, Julie Ottley and Brian Wesemann tied for first place in the team competition and won second place for their combined individual scores. The Senior Math Team: Dave Bond, Cassie Evans, Jay Continued 6n page 11 Lioness Meeting Huntley Lioness had another active and exciting meeting at the last of their fiscal year. Membership voted on pending items to complete the year, and made plans for the immediate future. By-laws will be readjusted as necessary to provide for a two year Presidential term, with subsequent changes in tenure of other offices, effective at the 1988 election; and the Audit Committee will prepare the annual fiscal report to our sponsoring Lion's club. Hi-Lites of the meeting include the election of Lioness Gwen Jensen for a second term; a decision to use bingo funds to supplement the 1988 Carmel Corn project (our members find it difficult to get time off from jobs.to solicit donations); the awarding of $200.00 scholarships to College bound High School Seniors Amy Pease and Monica Fettes. It was reported that our contribution helped to send four high schoolers to Girls State this year. They'll take a limousine into Chicago to start their trip of June 14 thru 20, 1987. These two gentlemen were awarded Life Memberships to the Lions Club Song started the evening with May and Barney leading us in Take Me Out To The Ball Game. The Pledge was lead by Joe Shaller with prayer i)y Del Borhart. Minutes were read and approved with a motion from Norm Brettschneider and 2nd by Hoppie Kahl. Treasury report was given and was also accepted with * motion by Gordon Schultz and 2nd by Darryl Gurnett. Many committee reports were given: Joe Shaller - boat trip on Sunday, be there by 4:45. Don Tessmer - Steak Fry is all set for June 21, work lists are out. Elmer Britton - Trip for two tickets are selling good. Chuck Dammyer - reported that Angie is out of critical condition and members were asked to send her cards with the Lions Club to send flowers. Golf outings - Island Lake and Algonquin - check with President Hartman for date. Town Picnic - was discussed with Bob Hight and Dick Kohiey to serve on the committee. Being awards night, the Lions presented May Chesak with a flower arrangement. Twenty-eight Lions received 100% perfect attendance awards. There were 5 Monarch awards given out. Lastly, Ed Meagher and Helm Thurow were awarded Life Membership to the Huntley Lions with a plaque and membership signed by the International President. There being no other business with a motion by Tessmer and 2nd by Shaller meeting was adjourned. Music will be provided by Windfall, Friedlander & Hall and Huntley's own, Kryer. A teen dance will be held at 5:00 in the Cole Shelter on the North end of the park. There will be paddle boats sponsored by the Cub Scouts, a dunk tank sponsored by the Jaycees, a penny corral sponsored by the State Bank of Huntley, a "Taste of Huntley" sponsored by Mona's, Continued on page 5 Minutes Of The Village Board Meeting The Regular Meeting of the Village of Huntley Board of Trustees was held in the Board Room of the Village Hall and brought to order by the President at 8:00 p.m., on Thursday, May 14, 1987. President Dhamer read the results of the April, 1987 canvas of election to the Board, after which he expressed on behalf of the Board gratitude for Trustee Ahrens's and Trustee Russ' decicated service during their office as Trustee. Thereafter, Trustee Ahrens Continued on page 3 Park District Meeting The regular meeting of the Huntley Park District was called to order at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 1987 by President Mercer. Present were Commissioners Mercer, Jurs, Woodcock, Gurnett and Olson. Also attending were Attorney Cowlin, Betsey Warrington, LeRoy Wirsing and Ms. Springman. A motion to approve the minutes of the regular and annual meetings held April 22 was made by Mr. Jurs, seconded by Mr. Gurnett. All ayes and the motion carried. Mr. Olson moved to accept Continued on page 10 Landfill News It is two and one half years since a landfill was proposed in our neighborhood. A Landfill Emergency Action Committee (L.E.A.C.) was formed to prevent this from happening. This committee enlisted the aid of the McHenry County Defenders and other interested groups and obtained the services of the law firm of Cowlin, Ungvarsky, Kukla, and Curran. An account was established at the State Bank of Huntley and citizens were urged to deposit contributions . directly at the Bank. The work of the committee has been voluntary. The services of the attorney are being paid from generous monetary contributions from individuals, local civic groups and local governmental bodies. Continued on page 4 Huntley #158 Accredited Huntley Consolidated School District 158 has received notice that the school's North Central Association accreditiation has been extended through the 1986/87 school year following the review and approval of its Annual Report at the Association's Annual Meeting. Accreditation is for one year at a time and must be renewed annually. The North Central Association, which was founded in 1985, is the largest of the country's regional accrediting agencies. It is a voluntary organization of over 6,000 schools in 19 states, plus the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in seventeen countries around the world. 656 schools are accredited in Illinois.
