Illinois. The Cheerleaders participated in a week of activity under the direction ofthe National Cheerleader Association Staff. The Cheerleaders received instruction by the National Cheerleader Association Staff in new cheer, stunts, tumbling and crowd psychology. The girls received a super star squad award and excellent and outstanding merit ribbons. The group pictured left to right include: Jackie Freund, Kristin Ostrander. Lynette Fettes, Debbie Wiesneth, and Phyllis Kearns. DATES THAT FIRE HYDRANTS ARE TO BE FLUSHED ^ Jim Schultz, Superintendent' of Streets, announced today that on Wednesday, August 29 all fire hydrants west of Route 47 will be flushed. Fire hydrants east of Route 47 and south of Main Street will be flushed on September Sth. IHUNTLEY YOUTHS TAKE HONORS AT THE IBOONECOUNTY FAIR The 19/9-80 Huntley FFA Chapter started off with a tremendous success at the SecticJii 6 Boone County Fair in Bevidere. The student worked hsi-dgetting their projects ready for the fair and in the show ring it proved to be worih the toil. In the Dairy division, Don Bruens efforts resulted in two Dairy Grand Champions and other placings in his breed. Crystal and Madeline Miller received Reserved Grand Champion Holstein Cow and various-other Ist place ratings. Curtis Looney proved himself by taking first place Grade Holstein Junior Yearling Heifer. Due to their team efforts they received 1st place trophy for school exhibit and placed in showmanship. In the swine division, Sandy Lueth received Reserve Grand Champion Market Gilt and various other placing ribbons in the other market swine. She also -toQJk aa IA rating in swine showmanship. In the beef division, Steven I Drendel and Kim & Lori Keams fottjght bard to earn their piacinga among the other chap- CpntiniJoH ijn P«R',2 ^^rl S .ti It The 1st Congregational Church of Huntley held their 1st Pig iRoast last Sunday. August 19th in the aftemoon. Over 300 pe6ple 'attended the dinner. Not only was the delicious pig served but aljio sweet com, cole slaw, bread and desert. Following Ute in«il, jogging around the park was required by many who attended; • •'^ ]\s a special attraction Miss Piggy, fainous beauty queen of the' Muppet TV Show, inade her debut in Huntley sharing her beauty with all those who enjoyed the pig roast.
